Publisher's Summary

Katie Connell is a high-strung attorney whose sloppy drinking habits and stunted love life collide hilariously in a doomed celebrity case in Dallas. When she flees Texas for the Caribbean, Katie escapes professional humiliation, a broken heart, and a wicked bloody mary habit, but she trades one set of problems for another when she begins to investigate the suspicious deaths of her parents on the island of St. Marcos.

She's bewitched by the voodoo spirit of an abandoned house in the rainforest and discovers that she's as much a danger to herself as the island's bad guys are. As the worst of her worlds collide, Katie drags herself back to the courthouse to defend her new friend Ava, an island local accused of stabbing the senator she's been sleeping with.

    "it gets better... No spoilers"

after listening to the first 2 chapters i went back to look at the other reviews to decide if it was worth finishing. the narration and the story line were painful, but i agree with the other reviewers that the story does get better making it easy to overlook that as you get into the book. the heroine made me cringe early in but she did redeem herself. i will probably look into the second book in the series.

    "Enjoyed"

Story was good overall. My only problem with the audio was that it skipped several times. Not sure if this is normal with audio books.
Hopefully next book won't have this same problem.

"Was just the kind of story I was looking for."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

    Yes

What did you like best about this story?

The fact that it was based in a tropical climate with a lot of mysterious things going on.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narrator did an outstanding job but there was some type of audio noise in the background that was a little annoying.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No

    Any additional comments?

I will be moving on to the 2nd book in the series. Already downloaded the 3rd too.

    "Save yourself"
What disappointed you about Saving Grace?

Ashley Ulery is a HORRIBLE reader. Her reading is so bad I couldn't get through the first chapter. This might be a good book, but I'll never find out because I am so turned off by Ulery's attempt at reading it. I LOVE audiobooks and have heard hundreds of them. This is the worst EVER.

What could Pamela Fagan Hutchins have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

She could have selected a professional reader (actor, perhaps). Lorelei King is one of my favorites.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Her reading was so distracting I couldn't even "hear" the book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    I don't know... I couldn't get past chapter 1. It was awful.

    Any additional comments?

    Thank you for asking.

    "The narration detracted from story"
Would you be willing to try another book from Pamela Fagan Hutchins? Why or why not?

Maybe if the narrator was different.

How could the performance have been better?

The narration was distracting. Her attempt at accents was especially bad. The NY/NJ one was about the worst I've ever heard.

    Any additional comments?

The story wasn't fabulous but it wasn't awful either. I think it could have been a lightweight but fun listen if it had a different reader.

Retired. I can't hold books comfortably so Audiobooks is fabulous. I listen on my phone or my laptop.

    "Narration."
What disappointed you about Saving Grace?

Good story, poor narration like listening to a bedtime story.

What did you like best about this story?

Not sure, hard to follow because of narration.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Frustration

    "Awful sophomoric book"

Totally not for the critical thinker. Dis empowering to women. The narrator was horrible. Her accents are stupidly contrived and she makes so many mistakes reading!!! Don't waste your time.
