A vicious serial killer is holding the country to ransom, publicly - and gruesomely - murdering his victims. When a man is burnt alive on a bonfire, it seems like a tragic Guy Fawkes Night accident. But with the discovery of a young couple on Valentine’s Day - each with an arrow through the heart - something more sinister becomes clear. A "calendar killer" is on the loose.
Detective Mark "Heck" Heckenburg is up against it. With a rising body count and the public’s eyes on him, Heck must find the killer before he executes more victims. Because this killer has a plan. And nothing will stop him completing it.
A heart-stopping and grisly thriller that will enthral fans of Stuart MacBride and Katia Lief.

"Fantastic, totally absorbing!"
Believable, narration as always made this book again - Paul Thornley
The number of characters, how it switched and of course Heck is a really mans man
He is by far the best Narrator out their! got to a point now however where I wont listen to anyone else.... Not sure if that's good or a bad thing?
Would love to just physically cant! I did however run back to it! :)
Paul Thornley You are the best, the author is not bad too! :)
This book would have been way better if the author hadn't felt it necessary to treat his listeners like fools. For example , after describing someone like a deep pool it really is unnecessary to go in and explain what that means. This type of thing happens throughout the book. The author also overused the word 'again' throughout the book. This is the second that I've listened to in the series and I won't be listening to any more.
Another great Heck book - though I am beginning to suspect they are rather formulaic. I love Paul Thrornley as a reader but now have heard so many books read by him I am beginning to wonder which book I am listening too as he sounds the same for every main character.
In the top list of thrillers. I am so happy that there are more of Heck!
When the tables were turned on the evil school therapist.
I love his accent!
No it's not one of those books. It's the audio equivalent of 'unputdownable'!
I love the good characters and the evilness of the bad characters is really interesting. Very good entertainment!
"Great Story which was very well read!!"
I am becoming a real Paul Finch Fan. Book 2 was so well written and read that I am itching for my new credits to come through so that I may continue the adventures of Mark Heckenburg, especially and with Paul Thornley as the reader. This one comes highly recommended from me and was a little less predictable (for me at least) than Book 1 (Stalkers). Book 3 is called The Killing Club and will be moving from "Wish List" to "My Basket"
"Thoroughly enjoyed this one!"
Fast paced detective/police story from the off, kept me entertained right the way through with good story and good narration, I'll definitely be listening to the 3rd DS Heck book soon!
"Gruesome but good story"
Phil Thornley gives a brilliant performance as usual, in this gruesome thriller. The pace is fast, descriptions detailed yet not boringly so, and storyline well structured
"Fantastic brilliant series of books"
Gripping listening Heck keeps you on the edge of your seat Paul Thornly narration is 1st class
"A good story with many twists and turns. "
Loved the story. There were many twists and turns throughout but I was engaged throughout
Heck's character is developing further as more of his history with Jemma is revealed.
"Difficult to stop listening."
gripping story, great narration, found it difficult to stop listening as story moves fast, chilling!
