A vicious serial killer is holding the country to ransom, publicly - and gruesomely - murdering his victims. When a man is burnt alive on a bonfire, it seems like a tragic Guy Fawkes Night accident. But with the discovery of a young couple on Valentine’s Day - each with an arrow through the heart - something more sinister becomes clear. A "calendar killer" is on the loose.
Detective Mark "Heck" Heckenburg is up against it. With a rising body count and the public’s eyes on him, Heck must find the killer before he executes more victims. Because this killer has a plan. And nothing will stop him completing it.
A heart-stopping and grisly thriller that will enthral fans of Stuart MacBride and Katia Lief.

"Fantastic, totally absorbing!"
Believable, narration as always made this book again - Paul Thornley
The number of characters, how it switched and of course Heck is a really mans man
He is by far the best Narrator out their! got to a point now however where I wont listen to anyone else.... Not sure if that's good or a bad thing?
Would love to just physically cant! I did however run back to it! :)
Paul Thornley You are the best, the author is not bad too! :)
"Difficult to stop listening."
gripping story, great narration, found it difficult to stop listening as story moves fast, chilling!
heck at his best. very gruesome storyline and lots of strange killings. couldn't stop listening until it finished. looking forward to purchasing my next book.
cracking narration of a cracking story, listened in 2 days whilst driving, can't wait to get the next in the series.
"It's quite good"
It's the second one by this author in this series I listened to and it will be the last one not because it isn't great because I think the story get get a little bit the same like watching episodes of top gear.
"A fast moving tale of murder and control"
Once again Heck is knee deep in bodies and the very worst kind of criminal deviants. A simmering love interest taunts the reader. Paul Thornley brings this tale to life in his inimitable style making it a can't put down tale. My immediate instinct was to load the next in the series but that would be wrong like fine wine this stuff is to be cherished and reserved for when you have time to enjoy it.
Nights got later and later cause I just had to read one more chapter - think that says a lot about any book😄
"Riveting could not put it down"
Chilling but intriguing
Very hard to pin point a memorable moment as all of the book was brilliant
Ok now breath
Paul Finch is my favourite , been a long time since I could say this.
This book would have been way better if the author hadn't felt it necessary to treat his listeners like fools. For example , after describing someone like a deep pool it really is unnecessary to go in and explain what that means. This type of thing happens throughout the book. The author also overused the word 'again' throughout the book. This is the second that I've listened to in the series and I won't be listening to any more.
"Fast paced and entertaining"
Somewhat different to the ordinary type of killings, some are a little shocking, you might find. This is my first Heck story and he is a well believable detective with a good wit and doesn't stand on ceremony. Yet again, Paul Thornley excells, like many others, I agree that he is right up there with the best o them.
