Publisher's summary

Theres more fireworks down the Jersey shore in Chris Grabenstein's sixth fast-paced John Ceepak mystery, Rolling Thunder.

A prominent citizen suffers a heart attack on opening day of a brand new boardwalk roller coaster in the seedy seaside resort town Sea Haven, New Jersey. Initially ruled a tragic accident, it isnt long before there are suspicious hints of foul play, especially after another dead body is discovered: a stunning young beach beauty.

Fortunately for mystery lovers, the straight-arrow cop John Ceepak and his wise-cracking young partner Danny Boyle are on the case, a detective/sidekick duo critics have compared to Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin.

Crack another case with John Ceepak.

Critic reviews

"Full of unpredictable twists and turns. There's plenty of fizz in the chemistry between the two protagonists to keep the novel and the reader spinning." ( Boston Globe)

Loved it!

Another great book by Grabenstein, but this one...I actually figured out before the end! I was so proud of myself because I can NEVER figure out the culprit in his books! I love the characters in these books!

Always a Delight!

Chris Grabenstein does not disappoint with John Ceepak and his witty partner Danny Boyle. The mystery is engaging and always leaves me happy.
Jeff Woodman is excellent as the narrator. He gets the voices perfect.

Light and entertaining

What did you like best about Rolling Thunder? What did you like least?

A good basic cop/murder mystery. Narration was good and it kept me entertained while driving. A great book to buy on sale.

Was Rolling Thunder worth the listening time?

Yes.

Not Bad, but...

This was my first Ceepak mystery and I thought it was just ok. The story kept you involved trying to guess "who dunnit". The reader was ok, but started to get on my nerves the longer I listened. Even though I gave it 3 stars, I don't think I will buy another book in this series. I don't really care for any of the characters and the novel just wasn't exciting.

Great Series

This is a great series of books. The audio performance was fantastic and the actor made the characters come to life. It is very sad the series had to end I can just imagine the future adventures would have been just as great. If you like a fun mystery set of audio book's I would give this series a listen.

I can't get enough of John and Danny! What a hoot!

As usual, my sixth book in the series does not fail to entertain. Author Chris Grabenstein and narrator Jeff Woodman are a perfect match (I cannot stress this enough). Filled with humor (the scene with in which Woodman plays out a scene with Danny and his drunk girlfriend is hysterical). I laughed so hard and listened to it quite a few times. Another whodunnit, this is a thrill ride worth waiting for. I've already bought Book seven. If this dynamic duo continues to write and narrate, I will continue to listen. What a hoot! So very highly recommended.

Well plotted story narrated with breezy charm

What made the experience of listening to Rolling Thunder the most enjoyable?

Chris Grabenstein is an excellent writer. He plots the whodunnit and then takes his wonderful characters Danny Boyle and John Ceepak through a well paced story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Grabenstein plays fair with his plot. He provides clues (and red herrings) as you attempt to solve the mystery just like Ceepak and Boyle.

Have you listened to any of Jeff Woodman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I only know Jeff Woodman through his narration of the Grabenstein Ceepak mysteries, but his warm, self deprecating delivery is a huge part of the charm of listening to this audiobook series.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

In every Ceepak novel, there are always laugh out loud moments.

Listen to the whole series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, because of the great narrator. He makes me feel like I am listening to multiple people speaking!

What other book might you compare Rolling Thunder to and why?

This story has a mystery that you cannot figure out at the beginning so I would compare it to any other mystery

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Ceepak and Danny ran to the top of the roller coaster after it was stopped.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Danny is a funny character with a dry sense of humor and I laugh at his thoughts of what is going on around him.
