Publisher's summary

The internationally known Jason Bourne can't help by feel connected to this case as he finds a man also with amnesia and the truth behind his identity could just save Bourne's life. The man Jason Bourne fishes out of the freezing sea is near death, half-drowned, and bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound. He awakens with no memory of who he is or why he was shot-and Bourne is eerily reminded of his own amnesia. Then Bourne discovers that the Mossad agent named Rebeka is so determined to find this injured man that she has gone off the grid, cut her ties to her agency, and is now being stalked by Mossad's most feared killer. Do the answers to these mysteries lie back in southeast Lebanon, in a secret encampment to which Bourne and Rebeka escaped following a firefight weeks ago?

The complex trail links to the mission given to Treadstone directors Peter Marks and Soraya Moore: Find the semi-mythic terrorist assassin known as Nicodemo. In the course of Bourne's desperate, deadly search for a secret that will alter the future of the entire world, he will experience both triumph and loss, and his life will never be the same. Now everything turns on the amnesiac. Bourne must learn his identity and purpose before both he and Rebeka are killed. From Stockholm to Washington, DC, from Mexico City to Beijing, the web of lies and betrayals extends into a worldwide conspiracy of monumental proportions.

Complex but fun

This book continues the Bourne series with another complex set of characters and plot twists which make for a very enjoyable listen.

Terrible performance

I am so not used to change. Most of these books are performed by Jeremy Davidson, so thats who Im use to. There has been atleast one other and it took me aback but it was fine. However this guy was absolutely terrible. At times it was as if Capt Kirk was reading.

Great story.

I listen in my truck so the way this book is read with more dramatic inflection made it a little hard to hear at time. When using earbuds I had no problems.

Bourne Survives Again

Loved the story the action the twists and turns and Bourne survives again. This book reads more like a Movie Script than a Novel. All the detailed descriptions of the chases and escapes were excessive. However; it was a strap yourself in and lets go for a typical Bourne ride.... exciting, entertaining and riveting. Van Lustbader does well to keep Bourne fresh and relevant which is quite an accomplishment.

Holter Grahams performance was disappointing. Bourne needs a strong performance, he sounded like a teenager narrating. If it wasn't a Bourne novel I couldn't have listened for long.

Good but...

If you could sum up Robert Ludlum's (TM) The Bourne Imperative in three words, what would they be?

Hard to track.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Many great characters, just a few too many.

What about Holter Graham’s performance did you like?

The performance was really first rate with Spanish and Chinese accents done just right.

Any additional comments?

Good... but in audio book form, it is difficult to keep all the characters and story lines straight. In a paper book, or even an e-book, you can page back to remind yourself of who a character is. This book has several sub-plots progressing at the same time and switches back and forth a lot. That, coupled with so many characters, makes it difficult to keep them all straight. This is especially true if you only have time to listen in short sessions.

A Reading Imperative

Would you listen to Robert Ludlum's (TM) The Bourne Imperative again? Why?

Yes. Narrator was very easy to listen to.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Very good plot, not as good as a couple of his earlier books.

Have you listened to any of Holter Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I have listened to Holter Graham and will recommend him.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

It's Imperative that Bourne has a chance.

Any additional comments?

The only drawback I had is a couple of characters were very soft spoken and I had to rewind and turn up the volume to hear what the character said.

Puts Bourne series back on track

Enjoyed this one. The last few had become predictable with uninteresting characters. The story has a compelling pace. An indicator for me is if I sit in the car to finish the scene after I get to my destination or keep it going when I get in the house 😊

TEDIOUS

This yarn was a slow start. I listened long enough to get into the plot although it was not easy. If I hadn't been driving I would have shut it down. The narrator was good enough, the plot was good enough, but Jason Bourne did not seem to be the main character with far too much attention to details unrelated to his character.
