Publisher's summary

When a team of commandos - highly skilled and armed to the teeth - tries to kidnap retired CIA station chief Linda Genneken from her home, trained marine Nathan McBride and his partner, Harvey Fontana, arrive just in time to join the fight. But their well-honed CIA instincts tell them this is only the beginning.

McBride and Fontana set out to learn who ordered the midnight raid and why. Is it connected to a rescue mission they conducted with Genneken in South America - a mission that nearly killed McBride? Is it related to the string of assassinations happening simultaneously in that area of the world? Or both?

With the help of their CIA contacts and aided by Genneken, the two men unravel a criminal plot with global implications. And as their race to find answers unspools in six supercharged hours, McBride and his team will be tested like never before.

Right to Kill is an easy 5 stars...

Right to Kill is a really good fast paced espionage thriller. I won't restate the plot of this story but suffice to say that if you're looking for a book that starts with a scene to put you on the edge of your seat and keeps the pace throughout, this is it.
Although I've read them as they were written and there is carryover of characters from one book to the next, they can each be read/listened to as a stand alone. Andrew Peterson always gives pertinent background information (ie: Nathan's internal turmoil, Harvey's steadfast loyalty).
This book ends a little different than the others, there's a message in here for those who want it.

Dick Hill narrates all of the Nathan McBride books and does an Excellent job.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Purchase this audiobook at Amazon rather than...

... Audible. It costs $13.96 or one credit at Audible. The price for the Kindle and Audible versions combined is $8.48 at Amazon unless you are a Kindle Unlimited. With Kindle Unlimited you can borrow the Kindle version at no cost and purchase the Audible version for $3.49.

Right to Kill is a terrific espionage thriller. Nathan McBride and Harvey Fontana are the protagonists in this novel, but tough ex-CIA station chief Linda Genneken, usually called LG, plays a major protagonist role. Unlike the prior 5 novels in the Nathan McBride series, this superb thriller takes place entirely in the US. There is continuous action and sustained suspense starting with the first sentence of the novel in a truly great opening. Dick Hill narrates wonderfully. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Non-Stop Action

This is book six in the Nathan McBride series. The Marine veterans, Nathan McBride and Harvey Fontana, built a successful security firm and sometimes do work for the CIA. They have installed the security system for many of the retired marine and CIA people in the San Diego area.

Late one night the security alarm notifies Nathan and Harv of a break in at Linda Genneken’s house. Linda is a retired CIA station chief. When Nathan and Harv arrive at her home, a battle in ongoing and they join it. The kidnapping attempt is foiled by Linda’s husband who has been killed. Nathan and Harv set out to find out why the raid on Linda and by whom. The ending provides a bit of a surprise.

The book is well written and the action is non-stop right to the end of the book. Petersen is a master at describing the hand to hand and gun action. He is a master story teller. Petersen continues to develop the characters in the story book after book. This makes a great get away from it all book. I have enjoyed this series and cannot wait for the next book to come out.

Dick Hill does an excellent job narrating the story. Hill is a multi-award winning audiobook narrator.

Who Really Wrote This?

What would have made Right to Kill better?

Less contrived dialogue among the characters. Especially between Nathan and Harvey, I felt like the plot was a short story extended to novel length with tedious and unnecessary dialogue.

What was most disappointing about Andrew Peterson’s story?

Not a lot of plot. Especially compared to the previous stories.

Did Dick Hill do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Dick Hill is always outstanding in character differentiation

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointed to the point of listening to the last 25% at 1.5 speed just to get done with it.

Any additional comments?

I'll patiently await the next book because I am endeared to Nathan, his faith, his history, and overcoming that history. Presumably this was a transition story to set up better things.

Disappointed

Would you try another book from Andrew Peterson and/or Dick Hill?

I am a huge Andrew Peterson fan, but I just didn't get this one. Felt like someone else wrote the book - cheesy phrasing and slow dialogue.

If you’ve listened to books by Andrew Peterson before, how does this one compare?

All the other books in this series is excellent.

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

Dick Hill is always A+

Boring...

If you like 10 hours or so of Nathan and his partner Harv shooting people with tedious description, you'll like this. Actually, the book isn't bad, it's just so similar to other books in this series. I've grown tired of Nathan McBride.

More of the same

If you like action without a whole ton of plot development, this will be a good book for you. Most of the non-action plot is short and used to set up the overly long action segments. It's good as long as you keep that in mind.

This is an action packed story

Would you consider the audio edition of Right to Kill to be better than the print version?

Only listened so can't really comment but it was a good listen because it was certainly an action packed story with minimal downtime. Constant entertainment.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Right to Kill?

The loyalty of the characters is very refreshing. There are so many stories that are all about betrayal but this store is more about loyalty which I like.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to several books in this series and another series. I feel that Mr. Hills range is a bit limited but I find his narration engaging and easy to listen to.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just find this series to be very entertaining. It was an action packed story that all happens in a short period of time. Good store to listen to.

Any additional comments?

I like the series and find the main characters very likable and easy to root for.
