Audie Award Nominee, Best Thriller/Suspense Category, 2013

The presidential campaign trail, 2012: A political operative and a volunteer are brutally murdered while caught in a compromising position. Written in their blood on the wall of the crime scene: IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK.

And with that, a centuries-old horror known only as the Boogeyman returns to taunt Nathaniel Cade, the president's vampire. Against the backdrop of the 2012 presidential race, with the threat of constant exposure by the media, Cade and Zach must stop the one monster Cade has never been able to defeat completely. And they must do it before the Boogeyman adds another victim to his long and bloody list: the President of the United States himself.

Fave Audible book - bloody great fun!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'm recommending this widely because I enjoyed it so much. Bronson Pinchot's a WONDERFULLY talented narrator; one of the best. He brings Farnsworth's characters vividly to life -- and the writing, the dialog, is FUN. The plot is fast-moving and extremely well-written. You'll be surprised by the sturdy and strong craftsmanship of the novel -- plot twists galore; surprises, page-turning tension, nicely drawn characters... I just loved it.

What other book might you compare Red, White, and Blood to and why?

I've read all three of Chris Farnsworth's Nathaniel Cade books. He's got a goldmine of a series here -- the characters are fresh and the concept innovative. It's sort of like finding the best new fusion cuisine before the rest of the crowd. In terms of surprises and pace and just plain reading (and listening) delight, I'd compare it to Mira Grant's FEED series. (FYI, those are AWESOME on Audible.) Not the same subject matter, but honestly nothing can wreck a great book like a bad narrator -- like with Grant's books, the President's Vampire series has secured a top-notch narrator who "gets it" -- who understands the sheer listening pleasure of a voice that can bring characters to life.

Which scene was your favorite?

Oh, man! The LAST SCENE was such a twist, I was stunned -- and now I'm cursing the publishing gods that make new books take for-ev-er to be released. That's all I'm sayin' -- just get to the end. Wow. (And don't you DARE flip to the back - no peeking.) No Spoiler Alert -- just... wow. I totally didn't see THAT coming!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

They've already nailed it -- thanks Putnam. Check the YouTube trailer.

Any additional comments?

This is the author's third book. I'm rooting for this guy! He is a TALENTED writer -- and I'm a really picky reader and listener. When you're reviewing for an Audible.com title, you're considering a partnership: does the narrator bring the book to life, or does he just slog through it? I HATE when books I enjoy are destroyed by bad narration. Pinchot rocks it, and makes Farnsworth's work play beautifully on the giant screen in your mind.

This is Cinematic with a Capital C. It will make a fabulous film. I generally don't "gush" about books, but this one -- actually this whole series -- just hit me with sheer delight. Even if you'd never think of reading a "vampire book" -- at least check out the promo bit for this; you'll be surprised. It's such a neat tweak to interweave vampire lore with modern-day politics, and it just plain works. But overall, it's just plain and simply great writing. This is fun, fast-paced craftsmanship.

Can't Wait for Book Number Four

I'm selective about my vampire reading because I don't like the new stuff that's popular today, so I was thrilled to find this series.

Blood Oath and The President's Vampire were very good, but Christopher Farnsworth really outdid himself with Red, White, and Blood.

I never talk to my books, but I found myself talking to Cade a couple of times, "yes, you can ... what's wrong with you ... do it".

The first thing out of my mouth when I heard the ending was, WHAT?! and I proceeded to scan the internet to see if there is any sign when book number four will be released.

I'm loving this series!

I love the series, I need more!

I found this series to be not only exciting but it makes you think about some things. Such as serial killers and the things that live in the dark. Cade and Zach make a great team. I love how Bronson Pinchot doesn't just read the books but he brings the characters to life. Thank you Mr. Farnsworth and Mr. Pinchot! Please collaborate on more books in the future.

I want more!!

This is a vampire series (3 books). You don???t have a doe-eyed female saying bite my neck or a Clan of vampires trying to integrate into society or take over the vamp world. What you do have is a reluctant vampire; he made one mistake and has to attone for it for the rest of eternality
Cane is bounded by a pledged but also believes in fighting for the values of Unites States of America. Cane goes out (with his sidekick Zach) to fight the monsters so you and I can sleep monster free. As a matter of fact, he is sooo good we don???t even know there are monsters. So we have got espionage, vamps, politics, the values of ???Red, White and Blue??? (our flag) and a vampire who does not understand 21st century colloquialisms.

You get the usual Cane stuff, machinations within the oval office to get rid of Cane. Just like the Joker always comes back to get his revenge upon Batman. Cane has his own nemesis who is stabbing at his heart with a pointy stick.

Best Villian in the series

Would you listen to Red, White, and Blood again? Why?

I'll probably do a refresh when the next book comes out.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Red, White, and Blood?

I loved the moments inside the boogieman's head.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

There was so much going on in this story, I loved it, but I wanted to pace myself so I didn't miss anything.

Any additional comments?

I've listened to this narrator in this and other series, and while generally I love his reading, he sometimes puts high pitched, stretched syllables for emphasis in strange places that I find distracting from what it an otherwise great performance.
