Publisher's summary

With the closing of the Harlan County, Kentucky, coalmines, marijuana has become the biggest cash crop in the state. A hundred pounds of it can gross three-hundred thousand dollars, but that’s chump change compared to the quarter million a human body can get you - especially when it’s sold off piece-by-piece.

So when Dickie and Coover Crowe, dope-dealing brothers known for sampling their own supply, decide to branch out into the body business, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens to stop them. But by the time Raylan finds out who’s making the cuts, he’s lying naked in a bathtub, with Layla the cool transplant nurse about to go for his kidneys.

Dark and droll, Raylan is pure Elmore Leonard - a pause-resister filled with sparkling dialogue and sly suspense that are the hallmarks of this modern master.

? Justified

Would you consider the audio edition of Raylan to be better than the print version?

Yes

What did you like best about this story?

The book detail gives insight into Raylan's life and back story. The reader is less than Timothy Olyphant however and detracts from the story line on occasion.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Different narrator.

Very faithful to the television show

Would you listen to Raylan again? Why?

Yes, its a great and engaging story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Raylan of course, this is not the Raylan from the first two books, this is the Raylan from the television show translated to paper with the wonderful master stroke of Mr Elmore Leonard.

Which scene was your favorite?

The last scene, I dont want to spoil anything but its a very Raylan way to end.

Any additional comments?

This is a much more television like version of Raylan than in books past, but it does not entirely jive with the tv show either. Its a great book, and basically is a mixture of season 2/3 of the tv show with some previous info from the earlier books mixed in, its an ejoyable listen and the audio is top notch.

Fan of the show

I really enjoyed this book. I love the fact that the characters in the show were taken from the book. I also like that some of the stories from the show are recognizable from the book. I heard Boyd was only to be on the show for one episode. It’s excellent that the show and book are similar in the threads they pull. Both are great works on their own. And lastly a really good read of the book.

Wonderfully Awesome

Want a book to grab your attention?? This is it! Tbh any of Elmore Leonards books are attention grabbers. If you enjoy stories of lawmen that do whatever is necessary to stop criminals, then look no farther. Definitely a page turner. Although this book wasn’t the basis for the FX hit series Justified entirely. It has several chapters of certain episodes of the show. Elmore Leopards “Fire In The Hole” is the actual book for which the TV show Justified was based on. Regardless, I highly recommend.

*I do wish audible would get Elmore Leonard’s “Fire In The Hole”. It would be a tremendous blessing to his collection already available.*

Too Many Plots ...

But wonderful anyway. You can see why Elmore Leonard's advice to writers is: "if it sounds like a book, rewrite it."

Classic Leonard

Very well read book from one of my favorite authors. This is because I have to use fifteen words.
