Too long, drawn out, boring - don't bother

Not even Michael Prichard's expert narration can salvage this slog of a book. Extremely drawn out, with barely anything happening. Could easily be cut down to a quarter of its size with nothing of value being lost. Plus, the whole "environmentalism bad" angle really didn't age well. Avoid.

A good story overall

First, the performance was very good. I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews. The story was read clearly and clearly distinguish between characters making it easy to follow.

The story is typical Tom Clancy. Perhaps a bit more contrived than some of his other works, but still an engaging listen. Aside from Clancy‘s niggardly use of synonyms for the word “stingy“, I enjoyed listening to this story.

Very disappointed

This is the weakest Jack Ryan novel so far. It’s nit the fact that Jack is not in the story. There is no real story.

Disappointed

I was very disappointed. I couldn’t even finish it. Forced action and dialogue- poor narration the action was strained.

Engaging Story

This was an engaging story. I’ve read a few of Tom Clancy’s Net Force books previously and had always wanted to pick this one up. It crosses well established tropes, but was likely ahead of its time when it released.

Audio was okay, but recording quality seemed to vary. Almost like the voice actor took a break and it messed with their setup. Not too distracting.

Overall worth the listen.

Great read!

Edge of your seat story from start to finish! What’s truly frightening is it is creepily plausible. Absolutely love this book!

A page turner, but not as good as Without Remorse

I absolutely loved Without Remorse. We got to take a ride inside the mind of John Kelly while Clancy explains his thought process, emotions, and logic as a master commando and tactician. The bad guys are also believable, with the whole story being something you could see happening in real life.

Rainbow Six is not like this. John Clark is a main character, but you don’t really get inside his mind like you do in Without Remorse. He’s not a commando in this book, and the commandos who are in this book aren’t portrayed in the same way that Kelly was in WR. Everything is a bit more “detached”.

(Some of) the bad guys in this book are also way less believable than in WR. The main big bads are so unbelievable that it feels campy.

Overall, I’d say that it’s a good book, but it’s hardly a John Kelly book. At least not at all in the same way as Without Remorse. In general, this is not one of my favorite Tom Clancy novels.

Good narration and pace

I’m currently listening to the entirety of the Tom Clancy Series in order. Michael Prichard has a great voice for the series as it he reads the book as if he is telling old navy tales. He gives each character a different or unique voice which makes them easy to follow he gives accents and depth which I have come to enjoy while listening to the series.
