Publisher's summary

Private Jack Morgan investigates the disappearance of the biggest superstar couple in Hollywood.

Thom and Jennifer Harlow are the perfect couple, with three perfect children. They may be two of the biggest mega movie stars in the world, but they're also great parents, philanthropists, and just all-around good people.

When they disappear without a word from their ranch, facts are hard to find. They live behind such a high wall of security and image control that even world-renowned Private Investigator Jack Morgan can't get to the truth. But as Jack keeps probing, secrets sprout thick and fast - and the world's golden couple may emerge as hiding behind a world of desperation and deception that the wildest reality show couldn't begin to unveil. Murder is only the opening scene.

Wish the audiobook matched the printed version

I switch back and forth sometimes between audible and a printed copy of the books. Using the “chapter” selection the last few books have been WAY off. For example: the list says chapter 95, but what you get when choosing it, is chapter 93 or other. Sometimes the chapter number holds several chapters so it’s difficult to find the place you need. I’m hoping this may be a bug in the app that can be easily fixed.
Otherwise I love audible and listening to many different books!

Pretty good

It was good for the most part but parts of it were kind of unoriginal. Seen the concept in several different movies. But still a good story. Touches on a lot of real world evils that plague our society.

Missing Movie Stars

Wow this book was interesting, there was soo much going on, several different cases at one time, not to mention the emotional issues with one of Private's employees, and the physical issues with another employee. This book has your emotions going every which way that they can, you will cry and cheer for the good guy in this book. This book didn't just stay in L.A but the main case was in L.A. Jack Morgan is my favorite character in this book because he is the boss, he is fearless and always gets his man. Jay Snyder is a great narrator, he changes his voice for each character and he is great at projecting the emotion of the character through his voice. You can feel what the character is going through. In 1 case, a husband and wife have been taken and their 3 adopted kids have been sent back to Private unharmed, when they look into the couple's past they uncover some disturbing things that have them wondering if they should be saving the couple or not. If you like suspense and mystery this book is for you.

Both the book and the reading were great! I really enjoyed this. Review must be 15 words.

Mildly distracting. Instantly forgettable.

I have listened to other books in the "Private" series. They still seem in search of a core theme. The main character is mushy in terms of personality and motivation and that changes from book to book. The plot is mildly interesting. Honestly, I finished this book two days ago and--like cotton candy--it's gone. Seems like the Patterson "brand" has become publishing fast food.

Unsatisfying Financial Details

Would you try another book from James Patterson and Mark Sullivan and/or Jay Snyder?

Yes, I've read almost every book written by James Patterson and I've enjoyed them all!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Disappointed

Any additional comments?

I'm an accountant who specializes in Treasury and found the entire wire transfer scenario completely unbelievable. I doubt that most people are as knowledgeable in this area though so the incorrect details will not likely hinder the enjoyment of most listeners/readers.
