Publisher's summary

On your mark...

Private, the world's most renowned investigation firm, has been commissioned to provide security for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Its agents are the smartest, fastest, and most technologically advanced in the world, and 400 of them have been transferred to London to protect more than 10,000 competitors, who represent more than 200 countries.

Get set...

The opening ceremony is hours away when Private investigator and single father of twins, Peter Knight, is called to the scene of a ruthless murder: a high-ranking member of the games' organizing committee has been killed. It's clear to Peter that this wasn't a crime of passion, but one of precise calculation and execution.

Die!

Newspaper reporter Karen Pope receives a letter from a person who calls himself Cronus, claiming responsibility. He promises to restore the Olympics to their ancient glory and to destroy all those who have corrupted the games with lies, corruption, and greed. Immediately, Karen hires Private to examine the letter, and she and Peter uncover a criminal genius who won't stop until he's completely destroyed the modern games.

"America's #1 storyteller" (Forbes) delivers an exhilarating, action-packed thriller that brings the splendor and emotion of the Olympics to a wildly powerful climax.

A solid listening experience.

What made the experience of listening to Private Games the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed listening to the different dialect used in Private Games.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Private Games?

The most memorable was when we find out who the bad guy is! No spoilers here!!

Have you listened to any of Paul Panting’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No.

Any additional comments?

The only thing I didn't like was that they made Jack, the owner of Private sound like he had a very odd speech impediment because he was voices by a British narrator. The American accent was bad and it ended up making Jack sound like he was mentally impaired.

OK book

The story was very intriguing until the very end. The ending was so ridiculous that it made me upset I read the whole book.

Disappointing

The American accents were awful and very distracting. The performance in general was disappointing. And the story was nothing extraordinary. Overall disappointing.

A bit obvious

I found this one a bit obvious- on several occasions throughout the story i thought characters were missing clear clues or being mislead in ways i thought were inconsistent with 'top notch' investigators. Also- felt that the portrayal of Jack Morgan made him seem the stupid american... not consistent with the previous books (especially in the end- he was clueless and Knight was the hero). Also, while narrator does a good job with all other accents- his american accent is HORRIBLE! Makes american accent sound slow and dim witted!

Language

I just couldn’t get in to this one. I loved the series but was waiting on the same characters to show up. I also wasn’t crazy about the ascent.

Decent story but annoying fake American accent

The story took a little while to grab my interest but it did become interesting and enjoyable. However, the narrator adopted such a terrible “American accent” for any of the American characters, especially Jack, that it became annoying. Also there were several chapters that the audio volume fluctuations were distracting

Excellent!

I have listened to 100+ audio books and I think the only other time I ever gave 5 stars was Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. This is an excellent audiobook. Very riveting as well as entertaining. Performance was pretty good, not excellent.
