Private follows the private theme but without zip

What did you like best about Private: #1 Suspect? What did you like least?

I like Jack. Like many books that are a series, you get hooked on the main character and can't wait for the next release. The book held my interest and had enough going on to keep me awake while driving. The multiple stories within the story are well engineered and magically, all is resolved at the end.

Has Private: #1 Suspect turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I will continue to read these as long as Patterson keeps writing them. It is hard to find good heros that are just a little damaged.

What three words best describe Scott Shepherd’s performance?

Clear, timely, in context

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes

Predictable and not the best

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I liked the narrator for the first book PRIVATE much better than this one. The story in the first book was more engaging, more interesting and less predictable. Probably because this James Patterson wrote it with a different collaborator?

If you’ve listened to books by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro before, how does this one compare?

Parts of the book dragged and were so corny I actually rolled my eyes while listening!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Didn't like his voice changes to reflect different characters.

Could you see Private: #1 Suspect being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No

Any additional comments?

Listen to PRIVATE ..it was much better

Narrator took away from the story

The story was pretty good. Several threads being followed and intertwined in a good way. The narrator told the story with almost a cowboy like cadence. He kept talking with a quiver in his voice when expressing Jack's feelings, like Jack is some wimpy guy who gets weepy all the time. This did not match Jack's personality at all. In several places the story got too sugary sweet to be believable and I just rolled my eyes and waited for it to over.

Good but not great

Would you listen to Private: #1 Suspect again? Why?

Perhaps, but I generally do not re-listen to books.

What did you like best about this story?

The story had numerous twists and turns which kept the readers interest. The plots were predictable, however.

Busting the van filled with drugs out of the warehouse.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reactions. I enjoyed the book but it wasn't a life changer.

Any additional comments?

I like James Patterson's writing but this wasn't his best. Not bad, but not his best.

Great book, not great voice artist.

I wish they would have used the same voice artist from the first book... the new artist has an annoying twang that doesn’t match the character at all and just pierced the ears sometimes. But the book itself was great.
