Publisher's summary

Mary Higgins Clark sends chills down listeners' spines with the story of Lacey Farrell, a rising star on the Manhattan real estate scene. One day, while showing a luxurious skyline co-op, Lacey is witness to a murder - and to the dying words of the victim.... The dying woman is convinced that the attacker was after her dead daughter's journal - which Lacey gives to the police, but not before making a copy for herself. It's an impulse that later proves nearly fatal.

Placed in the witness protection program and sent to live in the Minneapolis area, Lacey must assume a fake identity, at least until the killer can be brought to trial. There she meets Tom Lynch, a radio talk-show host whom she tentatively begins to date - until the strain of deception makes her break it off. Then she discovers the killer has traced her to Minneapolis. Armed with nothing more than her own courage and clues from the journal, Lacey heads back to New York, determined to uncover who's behind the deaths of the two women - before she's the next casualty.

At once seductive and frightening, Pretend You Don't See Her is the "mistress of high tension" (The New Yorker) at her ingenious best.

Great story poor reader

Reader has no personality and takes away from the characters. She almost ruined the book for me

Nix the narrator - good story

Really had a hard time listening to this one - good story - as usual with MHC - but this narrator is not Jan Maxwell. I am listening to another one now by MHC that is being done by another narrator and I am on the fence on whether to continue listening.

Thrilling

I've read this title years ago and found that it was still suspenseful. Always love MHC thrilling tales. The narrator was so-so but still enjoyed.

Poor Narrative

Listening to this book on Audible was brutal. Read the book - don’t listen to it. Overall story was good.

Surprised that I Liked It So Much

What made the experience of listening to Pretend You Don't See Her the most enjoyable?

I liked Lacey and it was enjoyable to follow her experience

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lacey

Which character – as performed by Cecelia Riddett – was your favorite?

Same as ablve

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes because I got into the Killer's mind and wanted to see how it progressed

Any additional comments?

Thought the mother was a little selfish and naive

Was not sure I would enjoy a book with a different reader but she was quite good.

MHG Never Fails Me

Loved It! The drama, who did it and the take down! I wish there could've been more Lacy and Tom.

Narrator Is Awful!

This is a good story that I read many years ago. I thought it would be nice to listen to on Audible. Too bad the story is ruined by such a boring narration! You’re better off reading the book. It is a very good mystery!
