Relentlessly Gruesome

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Who knows what I would have been doing if I hadn't been listening to this.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Thank God it ended.

Which character – as performed by C. J. Critt – was your favorite?

Kay Scarpetta, naturally.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I hope not.

Any additional comments?

Well written. I enjoyed the problem-solving attitude throughout. But it was really too detailed, horrible, relentless & frightening for me.

Starts the series off with a bang… quite literally.

The first of the Scarpetta series, this book definitely grabbed my attention when I read it the first time and when listening to it for the second reading. The narrator took a little getting used to, but after the first few hours I wasn’t really bothered by any nuisances. The story does a great job of introducing us to characters that will go with us on this series journey, and sets us up to both hate and love many of them at the same time. Cornwell has a way of giving just enough detail that we can picture what is being described, but not so much it becomes monotonous or irrelevant. Great story with a thrilling ending and a narrator I feel I can grow to enjoy. Maybe even love.

post mortem

Narrator struggles with voices of characters other than that of heroine. Difficult to discern which Male character was speaking unless the book stated his name. Voice of 10 year old was poor and not the same segment to segment
