Publisher's summary

After a tip from a reporter, Eve Dallas finds the body of a young woman in a Delancey Street dumpster. Just hours before, the news station had mysteriously received a portfolio of professional portraits of the woman. The photos seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary for any pretty young woman starting a modeling career. Except that she wasn't a model. And that these photos were taken after she had been murdered. Now Dallas is on the trail of a killer who's a perfectionist and an artist. He carefully observes and records his victim's every move. And he has a mission: to own every beautiful young woman's innocence, to capture her youth and vitality - in one fateful shot....

Precious Peabody Perfection

I love the newly reissued books in this series! Our beloved Peabody speaks in her wonderful, distinctive voice and all the other characters (especially the NYPSD crew) go through the wringer solving this case. It was always one of my favorite books with regard to bringing forth background info on secondary characters and now it is simply perfect.

Great Book in the In Death Saga!

This book was one of my favorites in the series.

Roarke finally learns the entire back story with his mother and father, and it was written so beautifully that you wanted to reach into the book and give him a hug. I loved how Eve reacted as well, it was all so natural.

You can tell that Eve and Roarke are both growing in their marriage.

As for the murder, I thought the perpetrator came out of nowhere, though it was interesting to see a killer who really, truly thought he was doing something okay. He wasn't mean about it, just crazy. The action at the end really had me holding my breath, but of course everything turns out alright.

P.S. :Love the narrator! Susan IS the voice of Eve to me.

Favorite book in the series

I love the series in general, but my favorite moment in the whole series is in this book. The narrator is amazing as always and the development of the characters is wonderful. My husband and I listen together and we love having debates over who the killer is, not to mention Eve and Roarke's relationship. This book had us laughing, crying, and screaming together throughout.

The highlights, without being too specific: Roarke learns something unexpected about his past, Eve learns new marriage rules, and the killer manages to be both insane and pitiable.

Fabulous book

Enjoyed this book immensely. I love the interaction of the characters. I realize that this was an earlier book from a number of the others I've read but an outstanding book on its own. Delving into Roarke's history was enlightening. I look forward to reading many more Nora Roberts/JD Robb books in the future.

Excellent book in the series

In this book a person is killing beautiful talented young people and taking their light. The killer photographs the victims while stalking them, and then photographs them again after they are dead. The photos are sent to a reporter, Nadine Furse, a friend of Eve's. Eve goes to find the bodies. There are several suspects and Eve works tirelessly to track down clues that will reveal the killer. The ending is a heart pounding race to try to save a person that is a beloved character from past books in the series. The killer's identity was a surprise to me. Eve was much more subdued in the book and was not as mean and snarky as she usually is in previous books.

In this book Roark finds out that the horrible person he thought was his mother was not in fact his mother. His mother was a sweet young Irish woman who loved him dearly. He goes to Ireland to meet her family, now his family. It is a sweet story and it is heartwarming to see Roark find a family when he thought he had no one.

Also, in this book, Sommerset is tripped on the stairs by Galahad the cat and breaks his leg - just as he was leaving to go on vacation.

All in all, lot of activity and great story telling narrated by the great Susan Ericksen.

Way to go team

eve and Roark continue to grow into a power couple. She reigns as the avenger of murder victims bringing justice to the victims and loved ones. Roark shows a rare dark side to his personality when unwelcome info is brought to his attention. Mavis, Somerset, Peabody, McNabb, Louise ....Love this series!

loved it

at first the characters voices sounded a bit off, but as the story moved on they started to sound more like they had in the earlier books. I love this series, every time I think I have a favorite, I read one even better than the last! I can't wait till read the next one!
