Publisher's summary

Daniel McEvoy has a problem. Well, really, he has several, but for this Irish ex-pat bouncer at a seedy, small-time casino, the fact that his girlfriend was just murdered in the parking lot is uppermost in his mind. That is until lots of people around him start dying, and not of natural causes. Suddenly, Daniel’s got half the New Jersey mob, dirty cops, and his man-crazy upstairs neighbor after him, and he still doesn't know what's going on. Bullets are flying, everybody's on the take and it all may be more than Daniel’s new hair plugs can handle. And Daniel’s got to find the guy who put in those hair plugs—or at least his body—and fast, or else he'll never get that voice out of his head.

Head-spinning plot twists, breakneck pacing, and some of the best banter this side of Elmore Leonard's Detroit will keep you on the edge of your seat and itching for more.

Great Character for a New Series I Hope!

What did you love best about Plugged?

I like the main character in and interaction through the tale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Plugged?

It was the scene in the back parking lot. Love the action of that scene

What about John Keating’s performance did you like?

Really enjoy his voice a lot! I hope to hear more of him as this character

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reactions but it was very tale.

Any additional comments?

I really got hook on Eoin Colfer from his children's series Artemis Fowl. I like his leap into this genre and hope to see more.

Funny and witty and entertaining!

I quite enjoyed this book. It was funny, witty, smart and completely entertaining! It gave me the feel of In Bruges or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Two of my favorite movies. Going to start the sequel right now!

Ridiculous and Dull and Silly

I just finished listening to “Plugged” by Eoin Colfer and found it very disappointing. I couldn’t believe with all of the action going on in the story and the ludicrous solving of a string of crimes, it was just dull and boring! The humor wasn’t strong for me and I thought there were TOO many crazy, ridiculous situations.

I think maybe teens would enjoy it (even though written for Adults) because the plot is so improbable that it’s not funny! Unfortunately, after about two hours of listening it became just plain irritating. His imaginative conversations with the ghost of his doctor friend Zeb, who haunts him throughout the story, I found especially annoying.

I wish I could have gotten into the swing of things, but the story line just seemed to irk me. I continually wanted to just give up on finishing the book, but I continued to the end and, unfortunately, the book never improved.

I would stay clear of this one, and save your credit!

SO MUCH FUN!

Truly as enjoyable an experience as I've had in months. If reading required a 12-Step Program's assistance in its cessation, I would be leading the meeting. I averaged a book a day, and can no longer read. Something this wonderful shouldn't be harmful to your health. I love this author, and especially that this title is free with the Audible Plus subscription. I'm not wealthy, and this habit is definitely for those with Platinum cards.

I highly recommend this audiobook. Enjoy!

Fantastic Fun—former YA’s welcome, mature themes

I’d noticed Artemis Fowl on Disney channel and fondly recalled the book. So much , I debated listening to in on audio just for old times. And, as if it were a gift from St Patrick (this happened on March 17), I discovered a fresh new character to love, loathe and laugh at (or with). A modern day hard boiled detective that avoids cliches and tropes, but tips the hat to the classics. Enjoy, just don’t compare this story and character to previous works with different characters from other worlds. That would be silly. Leave silly to the professionals.

Great narration and humor. Good story.

Where does Plugged rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 25%

What other book might you compare Plugged to and why?

Plugged feels like a traditional detective noir story.
It's complete with the hero getting knocked around, sultry (nutty) women coming after him, and mysteries to be solved.

What about John Keating’s performance did you like?

John Keating showed me a lot of humor I'd have missed if I'd read the paperback.

Any additional comments?

This is a fun way to spend some time. You'll laugh. You'll care enough about the characters to stay til the end. You'll want more Eoin Colfer to listen to.

If you like juvenile fantasy BTW, Colfer's Artremis Fowl series is awesome.

Made me laugh out loud

A lot of gangsters are bumbling. A lot of people have to make do with horrible situations. A lot of people cause horrible situations. Why not write a very funny book about it? Thanks Eoin Colfer!
Since there is no shortage of foul language and deeds, don’t play it out loud around the little ones.

Very Fun Story

This was a very enjoyable story. The characters are wild and interesting with plenty of absurdity. I think it's closer to reality than some other so called classics (Beautiful and Damned.....very tedious). Yes, there's plenty of profanity, so not for easily offended people. Some really good jokes.

Entertaining 5stars!

This’ll be brief because I don’t write reviews. This narrator did a STELLAR job with the NJ and Irish accents. (Also threw in some deep south to differentiate a supporting character). Having lived in NYC and the deep south, I did not cringe once.
