Griff Burkett was a school-of-hard-knocks kid, abandoned by his mother, adopted by his high-school football coach. After serving time, Griff finds only closed doors. Then he is summoned to the mansion of eccentric millionaire airline owner Foster Speakman. Speakman, a recluse since a car accident left him crippled, is impotent. He offers Griff half a million dollars to impregnate his wife Laura, discreetly, and with manifold rules. One of which is, if Griff succeeds, he will leave town and never see his child as long as he lives.

Griff has few options. He's still hounded by Detective Stanley Rodarte, who organized the gambling sting, and seems set upon ruining Griff's life. Griff has little means of earning a living, no family, and few friends. So he agrees - only to quickly realize he's been set up.

I never would have guessed

Sandra Brown writes quite well. This one was the best of her works that I have read. Characters were well defined, plot followed as it should, narartion was excellent and the twists were great.

Intense ride

A very intense book with lots of twists and turns. WOW!

Kept my interest and I loved the ending. As usual, Sandra and company did an excellent job.

Great narrator, unusual story

Not as twisting as some of Ms Brown's other stories, but I still had to keep listening.

Just OK

I’ve read several Sandra Brown’s novels and enjoyed all of them. This one was decent, but just ok. The protagonist was has hard to like, and the story was flimsy.

It was very interesting from the beginning to end.

I would recommend this book because it has it all. Love, passion, betrayal, action and drama!

YES. I just couldn't figure out how he could get out from under everything - it just kept building up.

Not really - hated the cop

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Glad when cop got killed.

Not her best

This story had a lot of poor connections and plowed along two slowly for me. A bit too negative as well for the main character to be believable.
