Publisher's summary

Theirs was a marriage made in tabloid heaven, but no sooner had supermodel Laura Ayars and Celtics star David Baskin said “I do” than tragedy struck. While honeymooning on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, David went out for a swim - and never returned.

Now widowed and grieving, Laura has a thousand questions and no answers. Her search for the truth will draw her into a web of lies and deception that stretches back 30 years - while on the court at the Boston Garden, a rookie phenom makes his spectacular debut....

Definitely Worth Reading!

Mr Coben may think that this is a book written in his “youth” but I definitely enjoyed listening to it. I couldn’t anticipate the ending, even wrongly, and that fact kept me glued to the book through to the ending. I found myself, liking and not so liking many of the characters . But what I am struggling to say is that this is not a quickie, “bubble gum” book but worth investing your time. Mr Coben is becoming one of my favorite authors!

OMG

17 hours! We listened to this on the way from Chicago to Florida and still had to listen to the last hour after we arrived. Love Harlan Coben’s books but this first one. Way too much flowery writing. How many ways n you describe how beautiful the women are in this book... on and on and on

Completely Enjoyed

I’m not one to enjoy super long audibles. However, this one was quite enjoyable. I’m a big fan of both Harlan Coben and Scott Brick. So, this was a particular treat because I could experience the first buds of Coben’s voice and style. I experienced the start of one of his favorite elements - eternal love ( and Brick does that yearning so well!).

I couldn’t believe it was 17hrs long. The time flew by. A must have for any Coben fan!

Waaaay To Long

I’m a fan, but this book just seem to go on and on. Probably 150 pages too long. The ending was semi-.Disappointing as well.

Excellent listen!

Todate, I have listened to all of Harlen's books. Harlen Coben is one of my favorite authors.

I usually listen in my car while commuting. I think that this book is as good as any of his others. There were nights when I sat in th driveway glued to Play Dead waiting for a chapter to end before shutting down my iPod.

I disagree with the negative reviews. If you like Harlen, you'll like this book.

Yes and No

While much of the dialogue was???how should I say this????childish, and the adjectives "jaw-dropping"-ly cliche, I did find the book thoroughly enjoyable, especially because of a well--executed plot that has more twists and turns than Lombard Street in San Francisco (although not as predictable). As for the narrator, I often choose books simply because Scott Brick is narrating. Listening while I'm driving, I love the melodrama.
