Publisher's summary

Few can rival attorney Andy Carpenter's affection for golden retrievers, especially his own beloved Tara. After he astonishes a New Jersey courtroom by successfully appealing another golden's death sentence, Andy discovers that this gentle dog is a key witness to a murder that took place five years before. Andy pushes the boundaries of the law even further as he struggles to free an innocent man by convincing an incredulous jury to take canine testimony seriously. It will take all the tricks Andy's fertile mind can conceive to get to the bottom of a remarkable chain of impersonations and murder, and to save a dog's life - and his own - in the process.

Lot of fun

This was a very enjoyable 8 hours of listening. I found myself smiling to myself and felling better about the day while I listned to this book. The story and mystery was good but the reader and the pros were outstanding. I hope audible has more from this author and reader!

Andy Carpenter gets better and better!!!

Rosenfelt manages to come up with surprises every time -- yet still totally believable. Story is so suspenseful, but wth just the right touch of humor! It was hard to not stay up all night! Narrator is PERFECT!!!

Do listen in order!

The books are great but you will really want to listen in order. We laugh with Andy Carpenter's jokes and perspective. Fun mysteries are these!

WOW!

I loved this book. So much so, that I've listened to it twice already and am contemplating doing it again! David Rosenfelt has a terrific sense of humor and his lead character is delightful. Want to listen to all his other books!

I found a fun new series to listen to

This is the second book in the series I have listened to. They are good fun short books to listen to, especially when you are in a rut or in need of finding something to listen to. the main character Andy Carpenter reminds me of John Corey from the Demille books. And the fact that he has tied the character of his dog into the stories makes this series different from any other series ive listened too. He has used my love of dogs as a hook which is brilliant. This book could have spend a little more time at the end, going a little slower on how he came to the conclusion of the case but otherwise I loved it and look forward to the next book.

Good story!

Very good listen! Nice story and very descriptive writing. The humor is fun and and a plus. Reader does a nice job. All the books in this series are entertaining. The plot was a bit predictable in this story, but in all, worth your time. Good commute book.

Hilarious and Suspenseful As ALWAYS

David R’s Andy Carpenter books NEVER disappoint! They are laugh-out-loud funny with a great mystery too! Great twists and turns! I never want them to end! I’ve read them all and now I’m listening to them here! You can’t go wrong with these but listen to them in order!

Great Read

This is a warm funny read with a complex and interestng plot. It is just believable and there is plenty of action and drama including engaging court scenes. This is the third Rosenfelt I have read and although they all follow roughly the same pattern, they are different enough. This is probably the bst of te three available on Audible. Well done, Mr Rosenfelt!

Light Reading

I read a couple of Andy Carpenter novels and found them highly entertaining. This was no different. David Rosenfelt's books are enjoyable and are entertaining. I think my biggest complaint was the plethora of bad guys after one lawyer. Sometimes it gets a bit unbelievable. Since I had already read some of his other books, I also had an idea of what Andy should sound like. This narrator did not fit that bill; however, he was good nonetheless.

My recommendation is if you are looking for an easy read, this book will do nicely.
