I loved this story! I've read the first 10 books in the Reacher series and this is in my top 3. A few nice twists, and some surprises got me hooked within the first 20 minutes.
Dick Hill was great in the narration of this one (even though I got used to his voice reading some Bosch stories which was a hard image to shake), and the story develops well and keeps the tension building. Maybe there's a bit too much detail when Reacher takes down one of the enemies, which is not for the faint hearted but a well-written book that I'd highly recommend!
Good work, Lee and well read, Dick!
The wonderful nail biting build up to the final battle.
yes. Buy bringing me into the world of Jack Reacher, I felt as though I was there.
The last one when he battles Paulie.
I think Dick Hill is the best narrator for these books, the others are good but I think for Jack Reacher he is the best.
Another superb title in the Jack Reacher series. I start listening to these titles and simply can't stop, I listen to it at the gym, in the car, out shopping.. Everywhere. The author has crafted an amazing character in Reacher, his whole character carries from book to book allowing the reader to really get to know him. The storyline is well researched and grounded in the real world with a fantastic pace brought by the narrator and some great characterisations for the support cast. Jack reacher at his deadly best!
So, I've made it to book 7 and my worst fears have been confirmed; the story of Jack Reacher's life is a Groundhog Day. His only saving grace in this recurring humdrum is that he gets to beat up a different guy and sleep with a different woman on each outing.
I really do not like being so bluntly negative so I'll close out now before I start on chronological confusion and text repetition. (Damn, I almost did!)
"Reacher stories are brilliant"
Yes - good pace and great story
The plot was well woven.
Good performance by Dick Hill.
I am listening to the series in order - this is a different narrator than the previous and I like him 😉 Reacher never lets you down 👍
Took me AGES to finish this-think it might be better to read these than listen-I find my mind wanders and then I realise I have not listened to anything for ten mins?! Always happens with Jack Reacher books
Got totally immersed in the story, narrator was Jack,. Well pleased. Gonna rest now, weary
"Best one yet"
Reacher dies and comes back from the dead. . Far fetched as always but great escapism. Will certainly be getting the next book.
"Well read gripping story."
One of the best Reacher stories yet. Well read and fast paced.
Working my way through the entire Reacher series.
"plenty of twists"
Very well read written in the 1st person for a change and that worked well.. good flashbacks and some interesting detail
"One of the richest Reacher stories once underway"
I'm not sure the start of the story really works but once the scenario is established, I think this is one of the richest stories in the series. There are multiple bad guys, multiple reasons for going after them, two different time periods and several challenges which stretch Reacher to his limits. Highly recommended.
