I loved this story! I've read the first 10 books in the Reacher series and this is in my top 3. A few nice twists, and some surprises got me hooked within the first 20 minutes.
Dick Hill was great in the narration of this one (even though I got used to his voice reading some Bosch stories which was a hard image to shake), and the story develops well and keeps the tension building. Maybe there's a bit too much detail when Reacher takes down one of the enemies, which is not for the faint hearted but a well-written book that I'd highly recommend!
Good work, Lee and well read, Dick!
The wonderful nail biting build up to the final battle.
yes. Buy bringing me into the world of Jack Reacher, I felt as though I was there.
The last one when he battles Paulie.
I think Dick Hill is the best narrator for these books, the others are good but I think for Jack Reacher he is the best.
Another superb title in the Jack Reacher series. I start listening to these titles and simply can't stop, I listen to it at the gym, in the car, out shopping.. Everywhere. The author has crafted an amazing character in Reacher, his whole character carries from book to book allowing the reader to really get to know him. The storyline is well researched and grounded in the real world with a fantastic pace brought by the narrator and some great characterisations for the support cast. Jack reacher at his deadly best!
So, I've made it to book 7 and my worst fears have been confirmed; the story of Jack Reacher's life is a Groundhog Day. His only saving grace in this recurring humdrum is that he gets to beat up a different guy and sleep with a different woman on each outing.
I really do not like being so bluntly negative so I'll close out now before I start on chronological confusion and text repetition. (Damn, I almost did!)
"Reacher stories are brilliant"
Yes - good pace and great story
The plot was well woven.
Good performance by Dick Hill.
Not so many twists but great action descriptions throughout. Buy this book, relax and enjoy
"Felt a bit fresh"
Been going through the series and was starting to feel a little monotonous, this actually had a more interesting and has sparked my interest again.
"Reacher always gets he's man"
Another great book in the series, jack is as ruthless as ever when it comes to getting he's man
"Another excellent tale"
Exciting, intriguing, suspenseful and entertaining. A tale where you are trying to work the clues at the same time as the main character. I highly recommend the book.
"Best Jack Reacher so far"
Great story had me hooked. Yes it's far fetched but I found it a great listen.
The start is always important. Starting fast and grabbing the imagination superb book. Even if you haven't read it listened to the rest of the series its a great book. Only subtle ref to previous books.
I am sometimes annoyed by the interpretation of female character voices in the earlier Reacher audiobooks, but this time it was much better performance by Dick Hill.
