Publisher's summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • THE BLOCKBUSTER JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE STREAMING SERIES REACHER

“The best one yet.”—Stephen King

Someone has tried to kill the French president. How many snipers can shoot from three-quarters of a mile with total confidence? John Kott—a U.S. Army marksman gone bad—is one of them. After fifteen years in prison, he’s out . . . and there’s a G8 summit coming up, packed with enough world leaders to tempt any assassin.

If anyone can stop Kott, it’s the man who beat him before: Jack Reacher. And though he’d rather work alone, Reacher is teamed with rookie analyst Casey Nice. They’re facing a rough road, full of local thugs, double-crosses, and no backup if things go wrong. Reacher never gets too close. But this time it’s personal.

This edition includes the bonus short story “Not a Drill.”

Critic reviews

“Reacher is the stuff of myth, a great male fantasy. . . . One of this century’s most original, tantalizing pop-fiction heroes . . . [Lee] Child does a masterly job of bringing his adventure to life with endless surprises and fierce suspense.”—The Washington Post

“Yet another satisfying page-turner.”—Entertainment Weekly

“Reacher is always up for a good fight, most entertainingly when he goes mano a mano with a seven-foot, 300-pound monster of a mobster named Little Joey. But it’s Reacher the Teacher who wows here.”—Marilyn Stasio, The New York Times

plot twists

A captivating book with well placed plot twists. Very enjoyable and believable flow with interestingly detailed descriptive details.

Can’t trust anyone

Reacher got to work and sorted the twisted conspiracy. Classic Reacher at his best even when a giant gets after him.

Not the best. Other Reacher books are better.

But it’s still fun.

I will always read the new Jack Reacher book. I like being in this world. He had about three or four beat em up scenes. Those were fun. But the story was not very good. There was a lot of going-nowhere-talk. My mind wandered at times. The author used the following phrase a lot. I smile when I hear it because it’s typical Reacher. “I said nothing.” “He said nothing.”

Most of the Reacher books have been 3rd person narratives, so I was not happy with this done in 1st person.

THE SERIES:
This is book 19 in the Jack Reacher series. I gave 4 or more stars to the first seven books except for Running Blind.

NARRATOR:
The narrator Dick Hill was very good.

Genre: mystery suspense.

NO MORE DICK HILL, Another great Reacher Book!

Dick Hill once again is horrible and this rating system won't let me leave zero stars for Performance. I suggest turning your speed to double time to get Dick moving at an almost normal pace while you listen. (NOTE to Lee Child: Use Marc Vietor next time he has range and never botches up an action book). Key word here is action.

I don't want to spoil this because it is a classic fast paced Jack Reacher action and action tips book. Tips such as "don't shoot the tires when trying to disable a gang thugs escape vehicle, go for the engine" you'll find out why towards the middle of the story. Pay close attention to the details and you'll get the hidden bad guy of the story. I didn't of course but I never do.

Loved it Sherlock Homeless!

If this is your first Reacher novel try one of the others first I suggest one that is Dick free they are all good.

Better than some, not as good as most

The ending of the book tied up nicely.

However the final scene with Charlie and the stairs was a bit too monotonous for my taste.

Overall, a good listen.

Disappointing

I have either read or listened to every Jack Reacher book written, and this one was by far the most disappointing. The story dragged and the end was anticlimactic. Would not recommend.
I've always enjoyed this series. I will definitely purchase his next book. Everyone is entitled to at least one less than stellar book.

I'm still pissed.

This was a good story but I'm still pissed that Lee Child allowed Reacher to be played by that piece of shit midget Cruise. Fuck you Lee Child you sell out piece of shit.

Triple twist…my favorite reacher thus far.

The two books turned into movies are great, however this book collects and coordinates and systematically addresses and surpasses the Jack Reacher we have come to know. Family, black and white villains and all shades in between, conspiracy, European travel, grudge match agendas mentoring partnerships and a triple twist ending. It’s a fun ride with our favorite ex army MP.
