"The plot is lively and full of twists, the characters are strong, the denouement is exciting. And the not very nunnish nun is immensely appealing." (The Times)

Gave up after 5 minutes. Awful reader couldn't post this without stars - I didn't want to give it any!
Once the story got going, I NEEDED to know who did it and what was going on! I was cheering Pelagia on.
The fact that each character is constantly referred to by their full name (including the dogs) is incredibly confusing. There are so many characters that I gave up trying to remember who most of them were and got a little confused as the story continued. It is a very good story and I will buy the next one soon.
Pelagia and the Bishop were both good but Pelagia was definitely my favourite. She is intelligent and loveable.
The moment Pelagia is seen by the murderer and chased had me on the edge of my seat.
