Publisher's Summary

Paul Temple faces danger once again, as he and Steve become entangled in a case which see-saws from the dingy back streets of Kilburn, London, to the bracing winter atmosphere of Geneva. They must find the answer to one vital question: is Carl Milbourne, supposedly killed in a motor accident in Switzerland, dead or alive?

The man's wife and brother-in-law are convinced that he is alive, as are a famous Hollywood actress and a film producer. Why are such a disparate bunch of people involved, and why is somebody determined to stop Paul and Steve discovering the truth? These are just two of the mysteries that Paul must solve - for unless he can make sense of these baffling events, there will be one certain death: his own!

Toby Stephens reads this complete, full-length Paul Temple novel, by Francis Durbridge.

"Excellent narration and an entertaining plot"

This is one of my favourite Paul Temple stories, with a host of conniving characters and tons of red herrings, set amid the wealth and glamour of 1970's Switzerland. The characters are interesting and likeable, and the lightweight detective mystery is involving enough to want to keep listening.

Toby Stephens once again delivers a wonderfully entertaining reading, with his mastery of the different accents and his ability to convey a real sense of drama when it's required. I often forgot that it was being read by just one person as he's so good at portraying all the different characters.

Unfortunately I have to knock one star off of this title because the audiobook's been lazily divided into 45-minute chunks. It makes it very hard to find one's place or to scroll back to listen again to a favourite chapter.
