When two top-drawer and independent minded investigators collide head-on, you can’t expect the result to be sweetness and light. After all, sometimes having two lead detectives on a single case is one detective too many.

    "An ok job"
Would you try another book from J. A. Jance and Stephanie Brush and/or Gene Engene?

Probably not. Having two narrators did not work very well for me.

What didn’t you like about Gene Engene’s performance?

I didn't like the two narrators together, Gene Engene is a more laid back and slower paced in these books and I just didn't think he and Brushs' styles compliment each other.

Was Partner in Crime worth the listening time?

It was an okay way to pass the time if you had nothing else to listen too.

    Any additional comments?

I would not buy another Jance book with two narrators.

I've always loved books. Even before I could read I've loved them. Fact or Fiction, I love books. I'd sooner read a book than see a movie.

    Story
"J.P. Beaumont and Joanna Brady First Team Up"
What did you love best about Partner in Crime?

The story is told from both antagonist, Beaumont a hard earned Investigator for the Special Homicide Investigation Team, out of Seattle Washington, and the young but experienced, Brady, Cochise County Arizona's Sheriff. They both have a lot in common and a murder to catch.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Partner in Crime?

The pursuit of the fleeing murder, was interesting. The suspect stole a horse and road towards the boarder. A very unusual sight for Investigator Beaumont, who attempts to get in on the chase. For Sheriff Brady, this is just another hunt for a criminal in Bisbee Arizona.

    Which scene was your favorite?

J.A. Jance's scenes of Bisbee and it's tiny streets, hills, stairs, altitude and colorful town's characters, are right on the money. I've lived in Bisbee, on a street called High Road. The road has room for one car and if you meet another car heading the opposite direction, one of you must yield, or back up. It often comes to wills as which driver makes the concession.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Like all of J.A. Jance's Joanna Brady's novels, I love not only her characters but the descriptions of Bisbee. I can envision Bisbee, it's people and it's uniqueness. It brings me back there with very happy memories. It's a town where I believe everyone should visit at least one time. The hotel, the Copper Queen is very real and enchanting. My grandmother had a job their as a maid in the 30's. It's said to be haunted.

    "How Does She Do It"

The author is a disciplined writer. I have read all of the Brady series and most of the Bo series. The quality of her stories is always maintained.. She does the detailed work necessary for a good murder . You know when you pick up a Jance book you have a good listen coming up. The narrator is perfect for these stories. Like Jance, when you see Eugene, you are in for a quality read. I have his voice tagged as Bo and anyone else will my do. So, enjoy the book!

"Light Reading, Book 16 in Beaumont Series"

I do love J.P. Beaumont, and Gene Engene, but this listen left me wondering ... "Are they getting more sappy? Or am I getting a little tired of them?"

A good story, solid writing, but definitely a "light" mystery. This is the first time J.P. and Joanna Brady (new character to me) were partnered, as two different Jance series overlapped. Clever. But I am hoping that when I go back to the regular Beaumont series (without Brady), I will regain my former and greater appreciation of Ms. Jance's books.

"LOVE JA Jance but hated the two narrators!!"
What would have made Partner in Crime better?

    Use one narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

    Dual narrators

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gene Engene?

no man - just a woman

    Any additional comments?

Love this series but it was all I could do to get through this book. The story was good, but the dual narrators were terrible. I won't listen to another dual narrator book.

    "Major disappointment!"
What disappointed you about Partner in Crime?

The use of two narrators was off-putting and made the story line too hard to follow. I never made it past the first couple of chapters. Not impressed with Stephanie Brush - lack of depth and no gift for voices like C.J. Critt and Deborah Monk.

Has Partner in Crime turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but I will be more cautious and listen to the sample and hope it gives me a hint of what to expect.

What didn’t you like about Gene Engene’s performance?

He was ok, but since I didn't make it past Ch. 2, I really can't say.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Partner in Crime?

didn't get that far in to the book.

What would have made Partner in Crime better?

    C J Critt as narrator

What did you like best about this story?

Stopped Listening. Too many variables with narration.

How could the performance have been better?

    A single narrastor

    Any additional comments?

    Sop using multiple narrators.

    "Liked the Combination"

Thoroughly enjoyed the pair-up of Joanna Brady and J.P. Beaumont. I feel that this was one of the best J A Jance books and I have read a great many of them. I did have a problem with the dual narrators, though. Some of the voices were excellent and others were like chalk on a blackboard.
