Critic reviews

"Is it too early to declare Finder's fifth novel the most entertaining thriller of 2004?....A first-rate surprise ending packs a wallop. This novel is the real deal: a thriller that actually will keep readers up way past their bedtimes." (Publishers Weekly)

"A twisting, stealthily plotted story...as a savvy genre piece with built-in momentum, it works just fine...the book weaves a tangled and ingeniously enveloping web." (The New York Times)

"What keeps the pages turning isn't the suspense, though, as much as it is Finder's detailed portrayal of the Machiavellian world of the mega-corporation and its high-stakes intrigue." (The New York Times Book Review)

"This thriller is engaging from the opening lines and doesn't let up until the surprising end. Scott Brick narrates flawlessly....This great performance is a perfect fit for the writing." (AudioFile)

Well worth the time!

I have listened to many titles over the years, and this is, by far, the one that stands out in my mind as the most enjoyable. Adam gets under your skin and you want his to succeed and fail for different reasons.

Exceptional

This was the first book I had listened to and withheld my review until I heard at least one other. I can now say the experience was totally enjoyable and highly recommend this book. I could relate to the main character and although the situation was somewhat unbelievable, it was not hard to get past the premise and become involved in the situation. A real "page turner".

What a ride!

I listened to this book right after 'The Company Man'. While I liked that book, I loved this one. This was the most suspenseful story I've listened to in a long time. A nail biter that got my blood pressure up more than once. I could hardly put it down. Great story of a slacker in the consumer electronics/technology industry who gets caught doing something stupid, and illegal, at work and then has to atone for his sins or pay the price. Great corporate espionage and duplicity, and did I mention suspense?! I actually held my breath subconsciously a few times. Well researched and written, this story's great plot twists, well defined characters, and spot-on narration make this one a winner. I can't wait to read more by Finder. This book is highly recommended! Happy reading!

Not terrible but not good either

The main character makes ridiculous and unrealistic decisions the whole time and the ending was stupid. Other than that not bad

fast read

I'm usually not into this genre. This book, however, was very easily digestible. really enjoyed it from start to finish.

One of the BEST

This is one of the best reads (listens) that I have had in quite some time. The story is tightly written that will keep you guessing up to the very end. I highly recommend this book.

A Morality Play

This is an excellent mystery, especially considering no one is killed. This is a morality play in an amoral/immoral world. There is a moral character, but it is certainly not the narrator (although possibly he become one in the end--Finder leaves you hanging). In my opinion, the primary moral character is the narrator's bartender/paralegal buddy. He's the one who points out that the primary character had a choice. A possible secondary moral character is the ex-con who takes care of narrator's dying dad.
Its an interesting listen. I recommend it.
