Publisher's summary

Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere. Police arrive on the scene to investigate. But when they find no sign of forced entry or foul play, they deem it an accident. Case closed. But Clare is not convinced. And after the police leave, there are a few things she just can't get out of her mind… Why was the trash bin in the wrong place? If this wasn't an accident, is Clare in danger? And… are all detectives this handsome?

too much coffee history

I enjoyed the book, but the story was interrupted repeatedly by coffee recipes and explanations about which coffees were good for which occasions and the like. I could have done without them altogether.

Great listen.

Loved everything about it. Great characters, great story. Loved the narrator too. Just a fun non-stressful mystery.

Second listening and it’s better than the first! I’m a New Yorker and I loved listening to the history and all the coffee talk!!

Way too much coffee.

The mystery part of this was good, very good. The coffee addiction is out of hand. I stopped listening twice because I just couldn't stand another cup of coffee as a metaphor for life. The worship of coffee became a little annoying. The story was worth slogging through all those wet grounds though.

I left this in my wish list WAY TOO LONG.

I am not a coffee drinker, I don't know a Grande from a hole in the wall. Thus, I was iffy about this series. But, I truly enjoyed this book. Maybe BECAUSE I know absolutely nothing about Coffee or Coffee shops, I was intrigued by the facts and recipes. The characters are very believable and it is refreshing to have a heroine who isn't 25. isn't driven by her hormones and men who respect women. I could see all the details in my head, the writing was so on point. I loved the narrator. So, if you are iffy about a series in Coffee World, try it, you will like it.

Great for a cozy series starter.

The author's addiction to coffee is obvious, but the details are so well written that I want to try out the Melita, the French Press, etc. A good story with a very likable protagonist, good sub-plots and the need to read the follow up novel because I want to know what happens next.

I real enjoyed this. The author has a good command of the language.

All You Want to Know About Coffee

I enjoyed all the information about Coffee because I'm a coffee snob, only want to drink the best.
The story was ok, but in my opinion, took a long time to get to the end because of all the New York filler.
Of course New Yorkers would enjoy it. Also, this is a story for the 20y-30y somethings because of all the descriptions of marble-like pecks, handsome irresistible guys that women might enjoy hearing about. (I didn't, as I'm not in that age group, and felt the book was on the edge of being a paperback romance)
However, I enjoyed the book for the COFFEE aspect and wonder if there really is such a wonderful and historic coffee house in New York.

A nice diversion from daily stresses.

Kept my interest to the end. As a lover of great coffee I enjoyed that part too. Excellent narrator.
