Publisher's summary

In the gripping new novel from American's Queen of Suspense, a young woman is haunted by two murders that are closely linked -- despite the 110 years that separate them.

Following the breakup of her marriage and her pursuit by an obsessed stalker, criminal defense attorney Emily Graham accepts an offer to work in a major Manhattan law firm. Feeling a need for roots, she buys her ancestral home in New Jersey, which her family sold in 1892, after the disappearance of young Madeline Shapley, one of Emily's forebears.

Now, more than a century later, as the house is being renovated, the bones of a young woman are found in the backyard. She is identified as Martha Lawrence, who disappeared four years earlier. Clutched in Martha's skeletal hand is the finger bone of another woman with a ring still on it -- a Shapley family heirloom. When Emily investigates the link between her family's past and the recent murder, she provokes a devious and seductive killer, who selects her as his next victim.

My Girl Mary Higgins Clark!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I do recommend this book to other audio listeners. The reason why is because she gives a good description of each and every character, very good story plot, and as always, this book keeps you wanting more all the way to the end. Very good mystery and the reader does a fabulous job as well.

What other book might you compare On The Street Where You Live to and why?

All Around Town by Mary Higgins Clark as well.

What does Jan Maxwell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings reality to each character that is mentioned in the book. You can tell who is who, and even though she is a woman, her voice is exquisit to the reading.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If it was possible yes.

It was interesting and thought provoking. Interesting to see different perspectives throughout the story. Main character very easy to relate to and feel for.

Need to find another person to read her books.

Bad reader—only had 2 or 3 voices for the whole group of characters, and those were whiny and unpleasant to listen to. They were not consistent with the suggested personalities. The story was fairly interesting, but the person doing the reading made me want to turn it off before I listened to half of it.

One of those that will keep you guessing

Very good plot and story telling - was pretty dark and twisty but not in a bad way. Really kept me on my toes
