Publisher's summary

It is 1918. Coming out of retirement, an aging Sherlock Holmes travels to Palestine with his 19-year-old partner, Mary Russell. There, disguised as ragged Bedouins, they embark on a dangerous mission. If they fail, the holy city goes up in flames.

With her unerring flair for the dramatic, Laurie R. King packs this novel with bloodcurdling adventure, clever disguises, and layers of intrigue. Jenny Sterlin's superb voicing of the prickly Holmes and the fiercely intelligent Russell captures every nuance of their unconventional relationship.

Back in time

This story takes us back in time and gives us a lot of background on some history of several characters that later come into the next book.. Fast paced and keeps the attention. I am liking this series more and more!

Mary Russell is simply amazing.

This is the third story of Mary Russell’s adventures with Sherlock Holmes, and the writing and storytelling is top notch. Love her character, which has developed nicely over the last few tales, and I hope to remain enthralled over the coming books.

Best book I've listened to in quite a while

What made the experience of listening to O Jerusalem the most enjoyable?

Everything was perfect from the narrator to the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of O Jerusalem?

There are too many good points to really narrow it down to just one.

Which scene was your favorite?

The ending; which I wont spoil for anyone by posting here.

Any additional comments?

This is easily in one of the very best books I've purchased. I will most likely listen to it more than once. The story was absolutely perfect.

Excellent

My only complaint about this book would be that the story is out of order. Other than that it is an excellent story with an excellent narrator.

Laurie king is one of the bestbest

King always leaves me wishing the story would continue immediately to the next adventure. Russell and Holmes are among my favorite characters in all literature. But all her books are great escapes.

history, geography, Russell&Holmes

This is a great read. Well performed as always in this series, this well crafted story compelled me to find maps of post ww1 era Palestine, very interesting to research. Should be read before Justice Hall if possible although I did in reverse order--the two stories are connected.

Amazing!

There is nothing to “not enjoy” in this adventure filled portion of Mary Russell’s memoirs.
Nice, especially, because we are filled in regarding the voyage Russell & Holmes took in “Beekeeper’s Apprentice.”
