Publisher's summary

Marc Seidman awakens to find himself in an ICU, hooked up to an IV, his head swathed in bandages. Twelve days earlier, he had had an enviable life as a successful surgeon, living in a peaceful suburban neighborhood with his beautiful wife and a baby he adored. Now he lies in a hospital bed, shot by an unseen assailant. His wife has been killed, and his 6-month-old daughter, Tara, has vanished. But just when his world seems forever shattered, something arrives to give Marc a new hope: a ransom note.

Both a white-knuckle thriller and a story about the loyalty of old friends and the bond between parent and child, No Second Chance is another masterpiece from an author who writes "suspense at its finest" (Jeffrey Deaver).

worth a listen. only downside is that it got a little long in the middle. could have cut out a few hours without losing anytthing important.

heart-tugging story

it started out which one I thought was too much detail but as it went along the detail did help the story is about love and loss.

Bit too long, overly-complicated, but entertaining

Defies believability with over-done plot twists. Narrator is fabulous and makes it an ok listen.

Another great book by Coben!

Love the author and narrator! I know I won't be disappointed when Scott Brick is narrating! To me, he is the voice of Harlan Coben. Kept me guessing til the end.

Coben/Brick always 5 stars

It was faced paced with well developed characters and intriguing plot. One of those books where you are wanting to finish and have all the puzzle pieces in place but also not ready to say goodbye to the characters.

Don't pass this book up!

Highly recommend this book. Great murder mystery that was still able to surprise me. Enjoyed the whole book and Scott Brick.

EXTREMELY INTRIGUING PLOT!!!

This story had so many characters and yet it was easy to follow who was who at all times. The in-depth story kept me guessing and held my attention constantly to the very end. I had a hard time putting the story aside to do things that I needed to do!

And SCOTT BRICK!!!! I've said it before and I'll say it AGAIN! He's on the very top of my favorite narrators list! He alone can draw me to a book. My next listen is another by Harlan Coden and I'm delighted that Scott Brick is the narrator once again.

I recommend this book to anyone that loves a good mystery. SO worth the credit!!!

Not Coben’s or Brick’s Best

I generally rate both highly, but this story was too verbose and Brick’s speech was too emotion ladened and slow.

This book needs an abridged version offering and then the listener could adjust the speed to 1.25 to compensate for the slow narration.

I love Coben, but after this story, I’m taking a break. I got to chapter 26, then skipped to the last 4 chapters.

I’m not returning the book because the story was good. The plot twists were good. The verbosity and slowness were the killer for me.
