Publisher's summary

On a bright September morning in 1939, two days after Britain declares war on Germany, a group of privileged but desperate people gather in Southhampton to board the largest, most luxurious airliner ever built - the Pan American Clipper - bound for New York.

The passengers include a fascist English aristocrat fleeing with his family and a fortune in jewels; a German scientist escaping from the Nazis; a murderer under FBI escort; a beautiful young woman heading for a new life; and a handsome, charming, unscrupulous thief.

They will be in the air for 30 hours, soothed by the carpeted lounges, the curtained beds, the gourmet dining room, and the endless champagne. But once inside the flying palace, there is no escape. Over the Atlantic, the Clipper's passengers are gripped by mounting fear and tension as their journey reaches the point of no return.

Narrator would be better suited to reading a nature or history documentary.

I can hear him doing a very interesting documentary on the mating habits of marsupials on the Australian continent.....

If You Like Historical Stories This is a Great Rea

The story takes place just as WWII was breaking out, and the maiden voyage of a new Amphibious Clipper Plane, and it's excentric variety of passengers, and crew. It is a fast read, and keeps you glued! Fun read

Listening was as enjoyable as reading

Would you consider the audio edition of Night over Water to be better than the print version?

I had read this book when it was first published and remembered it was good but couldn't remember the story. It was very enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

The dramatic tension built by the timing of the story, most of which occurred in a 24-hour period.

What about Tom Casaletto’s performance did you like?

His voice was non-intrusive but carried enough emotion to avoid being deadpan.

Ken Follett never fails!

This is a book I have read several times and the audio version is just as good. The narrator could use more inflection but is ok.

Not a good performance

Narrator was one of the worst I've heard on audible. The story was entertaining enough but the reading definitely detracted from the experience. i will go out of my way to not purchase any other books read by this narrator.

Solid Follet Novel

Par for the course if you've read any Follet, with an intriguing plot, well developed characters and dialog... at times racey and graphic, well researched. The performance was also very solid. An enjoyable listen.

Narration is odd

Only 2 minutes in - already dislike this narrator. Sounds like that creepy guy at work who thinks impersonating 'the movie line' phone service is funny... The story is fine - don't know how long I can listen to this guy though .....

Disappointed

Narrator read the book as if to young school children. Story was mediocre for Follett.
