Publisher's summary

When U.S. Navy SEAL chief Wes Skelly was sent to L.A. on assignment, he agreed to go on a blind date with beautiful single mother Brittany Evans, sister-in-law of a fellow SEAL. After all, he had been secretly in love for years, albeit with a woman who belonged to another man. So what did he have to lose?

Plenty, it turned out. Because suddenly the woman he'd thought he could never have was available. However, so was Brittany - and not only that, she was in danger. Because of him. He knew he could keep her safe. But why was he increasingly certain that he was the one in danger?

Good story, but….

Enjoyed the story, as always, but the narration was REALLY awkward. Nobody talks like that!

Great book if you enjoy the Seals series -loved it

U.S. Seal Wes Skelly, who you've met in previous books, goes on a blind date with Brittany, sister-in-law to U.S. Seal Harlan "Cowboy" Jones and sister Mel. Both dread the date and it begins with Brittany putting him at ease by saying "Let's just say we're not going to be interested in each other and enjoy the night out." With the pressure off, they become friends, learn a lot about each other and work together to catch the stalker of the sister of Wes's long time crush. A lot of good romance, insight into their own characters with a mystery/thriller in the background. Reminds me of some of Jennifer Crusie/ Bob Mayer co-written books like "Don't Look Down."

Believable characters

Would you listen to Night Watch again? Why?

I've read the book umpteen times and love the story. Now I can listen to the characters. The plot line is believable, especially in this day and age of crazy people. Wes Skelly, the conflicted Navy Seal, has a compelling back story. Britney Evans, the ER RN and mother of an adopted son is pretty determined to not get involved. There are twists and turns and sub-plots as they travel their different ways but manage to end up realizing the same thing is important to both of them.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Night Watch?

When Wes realizes Britney is in serious trouble and he races to get to her. Then she is the one to save him from the crazy fan/stalker.

What about Gayle Hendrix’s performance did you like?

She does a pretty good job of vocalizing differently for each character. I've listened to books where you have to read the paper edition to figure out who is saying what; e.g. the men all sound the same as do the women.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Wes finally opened up about the death of his younger brother.

Any additional comments?

Good book. Get it!

Narration omg

I’m only a few hours in and I’m not even sure if I can finish the narration fro Wes’s character is so terrible. He sounds so squeaky and strange.

This one actually had a story😮

Some romance books are all about who is going to jump whom, this author adds suspense & life lessons.

Loose the music

I liked this series before there were audio versions. This story like all that came before are a fun read/listen. This narrator knows how to do it right. If it weren’t for the yucky music at the beginning and end I would have no complaints.

Very Entertaining

This book has enjoyable characters, an interesting romance, and a bit of suspense. It has a very happy ending. The narration is very good.

Not her best.

Love SB, but her newer books are so much better. So much angst and yet so blah.

Another good Brockmann Story

Would you listen to Night Watch again? Why?

Sure...I would listen simply for the enjoyment of completing the Tall Dark and Dangerous series.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Not on edge. It was pretty obvious, but I still enjoyed it. After 10 other books of a similar nature, this one did not keep me guessing.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Gayle Hendrix?

Perhaps...if the leading lady was meant to be older. I enjoyed Gayle, but she gave the impression of a woman who was older, wiser and more sophisticated than the leading ladies of the SEALs series. Most of them were to be in the 20s to early 30s. I believe that Britt was to be mid-thirties, but she came off sounding like a 40-something, while Wes sounded to be in his late 20s. It made the love story a little bit unreal.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Perhaps, although I wasn't able to.

Any additional comments?

Again, I enjoyed the finality of the series. This wasn't one of my favorites, but it was still good closure!
