Merry watches, her presence cloaked by the shroud of nightfall. Nothing moves except her eyes, which focus on her target. No remorse. No regret. No second-guessing the decision to end the lives of the monsters who turned her into a killer.
The peddlers of death from potent chemicals are found guilty. Punishment for their crimes - death. Appeals denied. Sentencing to commence immediately. The leeches who sucked out the life of addicts with each snort, puff, swallow, and injection will now pay the ultimate price.
The idyllic world of Merry Marie Hall, once the loving wife of Harold and mother to their only child, Joshua, is over. Extinguished when Joshua overdosed and Harold died of a heart attack at the funeral. Now Merry hunts down the guilty parties and, one by one, carries out her internal court's orders. Court is now in session.
This book was inspired by one mother's journey, a trip down the dark path paved by the demon that came looking for her son - and found him. Her boy's life turned from the pursuit of a football scholarship to the relentless need for heroin. His life was stolen by the demon. What's a mother to do? What can a mother do? This fictional mother did what so many only dare to consider behind closed eyes, in their nightmares, and in their dark fantasies.

Merry lost everything, her son died from a drug overdose and her husband had a heart attack at the funeral. In the space of a few days her life was over. So she decides to take matters into her own hands and hunt down the people responsible for selling drugs. Merry works in law so is able to get the names of dealers easily. The first person on her radar is a drug dealer. Can she dole out her justice without getting caught?
Ashley Fontainne is a master at twist and turns in a book, and this is no different. When you think you know everything, bam, she hits you with something unexpected! I've read a lot of books by her at this stage, but never one that has ripped at my heart as much. This was amazing but so heart wrenching.
My heart ached for Merry. She tried everything to help her son, yet when it seems he has kicked the habit, he turns up dead of an overdose, add in her husband having a heart attack at the funeral and you just think, how is the woman still standing! But she does, and she knows that the scum who are responsible for her sons death won't come to justice, so she takes matters into her own hands. She is such a tough cookie, yet you just know her heart is broken.
The fact that what happens to her, is something that is happening in real life, just makes this all the more hard hitting. I have 4 boys and I dread what life will be like in a few years when they start to go out on their own. Drugs and stuff are rampant and this book just portrays the reality of them perfectly.
This author has created a book that will make you think, make you realise that little things don't matter! After listening to this, I went and talked to the older boys about drugs and what they would do if offered some etc.
Anyway, back to the book. All that's left to say is, go get this book! It will ensnare you and you won't be sorry. This author has an amazing talent and I really hope more people will see her work. The book is amazing and I highly recommend.
This isn't the first book I've listened to by Rebecca Roberts, nor will it be my last. She is quickly becoming one narrator I know will give a brilliant performance every time. Her range and tones are impressive and she always manages to pull me into the story.
*I received a copy of this for review. This in no way affects my thoughts.*
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!

Wow, I didn’t see that coming!
I’ve only just recently started listening to books by Ashley Fontainne; Night Court being my third one, and I must say this was the best one yet. By the end of it, I had tears in my eyes. Not what I had expected at all.
Merry recently lost her husband to a heart attack and shortly before, her only child, Joshua, died from a drug overdose. Now she is out for vigilante justice eliminating the drug dealers responsible for her family’s pain and suffering.
I was totally convinced I knew where this story was going, and then Ashley Fontainne threw in some twists and turns that left me flabbergasted. You thought you knew the characters and what they were about and then, bam, it all changed.
Being terribly soppy when it comes to animals, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to listen to part of the story involving the dog but it was handled brilliantly, and I actually really enjoyed that part of the story.
Night Court was part suspenseful psychological thriller and part emotional family drama and turned out to be much more than I had expected. If you enjoy dark stories with characters that are out of the ordinary, I would highly recommend this. It gripped me right from the start, and I ended up listening to it in one sitting finishing it in a day.
I have listened to several other audiobooks narrated by Rebecca Roberts, and while her narration has always been very good, I thought this was superb. She really expressed the emotional side of the story perfectly and provided appropriate voices for all the characters to make them distinguishable and real. She really got into the character of Merry but without overacting.
There were no issues with the production.

Set in the dark streets of the night with the drug culture, It is a tale that is part non-stop suspense and part heart-wrenching family drama. The author managed to amaze me at the twists and turns this tale took. With all the thrills and surprises, you get a glimpse into the sorrow and anguish that many face today that are victims of the addiction.
When I discovered Audible it was like discovering love :-) I love receiving codes and in return I post reviews. Wife, and mom of two,
Another fantastic story written by Ashley Fontainne. This story is one that will have you immersed and on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Ashley has outdone herself again with writing stories that contain mystery and suspense. I still think Growl will always be my favorite by her, probably because I love sci-fi and paranormal fantasy but this story still gets a perfect 5 star rating by me! If you've never read or listened to any of Ashley Fontainne's stories then you're missing out and I highly recommend you give one of her stories a try!
Narrator, Rebecca Frohock-Roberts did another perfect job with her telling of Night Court. I thought she did a superb job with distinguishing each character's accents and voices. She really brought this story to life. I HIGHLY recommend you get this story today while it's still on sale for a limited time on ebook. Of course I love audiobooks so that is something you might like, if so grab your copy today and start listening.
A story that draws you in and keeps you there untill the end. The plot was fairly dark and very imaginative, and the narrator's voice only served to bring this experience to near perfection.
The ending was the surprise for me. Night Court started out with a vigilante mother. Not going to tell you how it ended, but, it definitely took a twist and a turn I did not expect. I have to admit, I was a little put off by the inner thoughts of Merry, but unfortunately, I understood them. That being said, I enjoyed the excellent writing and the story line. I am becoming a fan of Ashley Fontainne very quickly! The narration was excellent. Having no problem with keeping the different characters apart simply by their voices and the cadence of the narration kept me focused on the story. Rebecca Roberts is one of my favorite narrators. Never disappointed with her work.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read/listen!
I love audiobooks!!!
In a revenge-based fantasy world, I would want to be Merry. I would NOT want to cross her! Roberts does a fantastic job, again, voicing Fontainne's characters! This is a raw, biased story, from the POV of a mother who has lost her child due to drug use, and is willing to go all ninja on the people who facilitated his demise. Dark and angry, I feel like this story was also cathartic in some way. Amazing storytelling on the part of both the author and the narrator. Chilling!
Omg yes this was an awesome book
Everything in this book was great
I was moved at what Merry was doing to get vengeance for her family's untimely deaths her sons overdose and then her husbands heart attach
Wow is all I have to say and wasn't expecting that ending Rebecca did a great job narrating this book
this book was so great I couldn't put it down. I finished it in 24 hours! it started exciting and ended exciting! I was caught off guard by the end! didn't see that one coming!
the narrator did an excellent job! I would definitely recommend it to others!
