Publisher's summary

The national best-selling author of Royal Blood whisks her heroine away to the French Riviera for fun-and danger.

Lady Georgiana Rannoch has once again been called into service by Her Majesty the Queen. This time she's sent to Nice on a secret assignment that's nothing to sneeze at: recover the Queen's stolen snuff box.

As much of an honor as it is to be trusted by Her Majesty, an even greater honor awaits Georgie in Nice - as Coco Chanel herself asks Georgie to model her latest fashion. But when a necklace belonging to the Queen is stolen on the catwalk, Georgie has to find two priceless items - and solve a murder. How's a girl to find any time to go to the casino?

Critic reviews

“Katherine Kellgren's performance encompasses an astonishing range of personalities while remaining true to her impoverished sleuth's impeccable enunciation…Kellgren, undaunted by the burgeoning cast of characters, supplies plenty of distinctive accents and jaunty tones. The delighted listener wants the story to go on and on.” ( Audiofile)
"Fans of Peter Lovesey''s hilarious books transforming the future Edward VII into an unlikely sleuth will relish Bowen''s whimsical fifth Royal Spyness mystery starring Lady Georgiana Rannoch, 34th in line to the British thrown (after 2010''s Royal Blood). Bowen successfully melds a whodunit with comedy as few contemporary writers can." ( Publishers Weekly, starred review)
"The best part of this delicious series is the cast of characters (well known and otherwise), led, of course, by the level-headed and stiff- upper-lipped Georgiana, who tackles whatever is in front of her, be it murder or romance, with uncommon relish. A royal romp." ( Booklist)

Excellent

Another truly exciting Spyness novel from Rhys Bowen. Wonderful well-developed characters, exciting setting, and a good twist at the end that I didn’t see coming but that not out of place in the story.
Excellent read.

Wonderful, delightful, my new favorite

Rhys Bowen and narrator Katherine Kellgren (R.I.P.) have hit their stride with this one, book 5 in the series. It was pure joy to listen from beginning to end, with plenty of laughs out loud. Belinda just gets funnier and Darcy, well...he keeps me hanging on!

Very NICE!

I love the Royal Sypness Mystery books. Rhys Bowen must have a great sense of humor because there are plenty of times while I'm listening to her books that I laugh out loud. The writing is excellent and the story is creative and entertaining.

I only wish that Georgie and Darcy could be paired up to solve a mystery together and that their romance was spiced up considerably.

I've listened to the whole series and the narrator is wonderful and truly brings the whole story to life. I'll definitely listen to more audiobooks narrated by Katherine Kellgren. She's GREAT!

I can't wait for the next Royal Spyness Mystery.

Funnest series ever!

OK, make that "most fun". Look, I love mysteries but most are dark and foreboding. This is a lark; a good mystery set in a satire of the British upper classes of the '30s. Georgie is a great heroine, naive but quick to learn. The narration is fantastic. Katherine Kellgren does an incredible job with all the different characters. Even her male voices are good; she doesn't try to drop her register like so many female narrators do. What else. . .start the series at the beginning and enjoy the ride!

Lighthearted Listen

I have had a stressful week and was looking for something fun and lighthearted to listen to. Naughty in Nice fit the bill perfectly. Katherine Kellgren is wonderful narrator, solid british accent without sounding campy. The story has some nice twists without becoming convuluded. If you are looking for a lighthearted, fun mystery, I strongly recommend that you give this book a chance.

Great listening

Where does Naughty in Nice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Loved the whole series. Just finishing the last book. I would enjoy others written by Bowen and narrated by Kellgren. I hope to find some. Loved the period of the '30's, the fictional perspective of Queen Mary and other Royals. Fiction or truth, I liked them all.

JoAnne's Judgements

Would you listen to Naughty in Nice again? Why?

Yes-but I like listening to things over and over. That way I can do stuff and not HAVE to pay attention.

If you’ve listened to books by Rhys Bowen before, how does this one compare?

This is like all the others. I'm not sure I would enjoy 'reading' the series as much as I like listening to them.

Which scene was your favorite?

No idea

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Her RoyalSpyness is off again . . .

Any additional comments?

The reader is what makes these books so enjoyable. Each character has their own voice and that makes it more fun.

Another Fun Listen

I thoroughly enjoy this series. It gives me a taste of British history and the pretentiousness of the aristocracy.. Lady Georgiana is so likable. I would enjoy being her friend. Then there is Darcy, her love interest although his part in this book is rather small but nonetheless significant. The setting here is the French Rivera and several famous historic characters make an appearance. As always there is murder and intrigue which unfolds nicely and is quite believable. No review would be complete without complimenting the narration which truly adds to the experience. I highly recommend the series and this book..

Fun romp in south of France

Once again Rhys Bowen has created a delightful clutch of characters- good and bad- who this time inhabit hotels and villas in Nice. Lady Georgiana is sent off in service to the queen and manages to tangle herself up in murder and mayhem.
The performance is spot on, with each character having a distinctive voice, so you'll have no trouble telling them apart.
If you are a fan of this series, Naughty in Nice is a must read (or listen to.)
