THE FIRST NOVEL IN THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING IN DEATH SERIES

It is 2058, New York City. Technology now completely rules the world, but for New York Detective Eve Dallas, one irresistible impulse still rules the heart: passion...

Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over ten years on the force, she’s seen it all - and knows her survival depends on her instincts. And she’s going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and a suspect in Eve’s murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it’s up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Fast Pace

Many books aren't as good in the audio version because of the repetition of "she said... he said... she said...." In this book, the dialogue didn't have any of those tags but yet was easy to follow who was speaking.

This book is different from the typical crime fiction in several ways and may turn off some readers (because it is different):
* Eve Dallas is a female cop.
* The story takes place in the future (the year is 2058).
* There is some romance thrown in.

Great book, great narrator

I re-listened after completing the 50+ books in the series and enjoyed it just as much. Erickson is talented with voices: male female accent etc and consistent throughout the series. Recommend.

I hope the series gets a lot better

So many folks love this series and obviously they sell week enough for so many to be published, but I found this one very dated in 2022. Al least 50% of the story was a straight-up romance novel. The remaining part very obvious and not a very engaging police procedural. I’ll try one more, but does it get much better?

I definitely want More!

This book was definitely more than I expected. These books have been on my to read list for a long time. The only reason I didn't is because I like to start what I finish. And there are over 50 books in the series and that is quite a big undertaking. But I'm happy that I started this. k takes place in 2058. So, it was written in somewhat close future, and now we are almost 30 years closer to that date. And I noticed that Nora/ J.R. is close to on track on where we are heading technology wise. (I guess it all depends on how these idiots who hold office now leave us when Joes 3 more years are over, we very well may go backwards-#Lets go Brandon) lol. I digress, this book was pretty great. From what I've read in the other reviews, a lot of people say it keeps getting better. I can't wait to keep going. I liked Eve; she was strong. I didn't think it was going to go so easy with her and Roarke. And Roake, I thought I'd hate him. I was wrong. I loved them both and really hope they are both around for all 50 something books! But if your sensitive to trauma/rape especially with kids maybe avoid this one. But I am a fan and I plan on reading every one of these books even if it takes me forever! I don't know where she found the time to write all these books, especially with all her other books. INSANE!

Can’t do it

I listened to 14 chapters and got to the sex and stopped.
There was nothing interesting about any part of it I listened to.
I was checking out a book in the series and decided to go to the first book first.
I’m glad I did so it saved me from buying any more.
In my opinion it was a waste of time and money.
