THE FIRST NOVEL IN THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING IN DEATH SERIES

It is 2058, New York City. Technology now completely rules the world, but for New York Detective Eve Dallas, one irresistible impulse still rules the heart: passion...

Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over ten years on the force, she’s seen it all - and knows her survival depends on her instincts. And she’s going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and a suspect in Eve’s murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it’s up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Won't continue with series

The undertone was political. I don't buy books to get biased (and incorrect) political leaning 'lessons'. The fact that this is a cop story and the author's strong statements regarding Republican political leaders being supportive of sex trafficking was a red flag. Hint: we have the opposite party in office now which ignores and promotes it through immigration policies, and won't even talk about the well-known issue of human & sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is a worldwide problem with equal support from both/all sides, and cops know this. Cops, as a whole, are conservative leaning.

Amazing Voice Actor

Susan does such an amazing job voicing an array of characters and accents. Loved to hear one of my favorite books read so well.

Amazing story

The mystery was engaging, I enjoyed trying to figure out who was behind it alongside Eve. I loved the intrigue and the twist at the end. The killer(s) we’re well written and I enjoyed hating them. J.D. Robb writes entertaining and believable characters.

Good enough to buy the second!

I really enjoyed this story overall. I think what detracted from the feel that the author was perhaps going for was the voice actor when she played Eve. Sometimes, it was a little too much and too aggressive, and while the character was described in such a way, I think that it was almost like the actor was trying too hard. I found myself getting frustrated with Eve a few times... In addition to that, the story between the two main characters seemed to progress a little too quickly for my taste, and I think I was hoping to see more character development and relationship development between the two... this did, thowever, have a good mixture of thrill, romance, action, suspense, etc.

The setting was really cool. It was futuristic, but not too far from possible reality. The updated names of locations and certain electronics was definitely immersive and put you in the story. This is not one of my genres that I typically go for, but I did purchase the second book.

Second book as bad as first

I have no idea how this series is rated so highly. Is it the juvenile romance scenes? Are women that oppressed? The dialogue is laughable. The romance scenes are ridiculous. I took another reviewer’s advice to not judge the series based on the first book. This series reminds me of 50 Shades - pitiful, silly words that somehow attract a substantial following.

Have all the hardcovers!!

I personally loved this series from the start. Read quite a few Robert's books, thought I would try the Dallas series. Not disappointed at all, they take up quite alot of space on my bookcase. Love that I found them in audible. Narrator was good with the voice and I think she has the perfect voice for Eve. PLEASE MAKE A MOVIE OR BETTER YET A SERIES.
