When NYPD Red arrives at a crime scene, everyone takes notice. Known as the protectors of the rich, famous, and connected, NYPD Red is the elite task force called in only for New York City's most high-profile crimes. And Detective Zach Jordan is the best of the best, a brilliant and relentless pursuer of justice. He puts professionalism above all, ignoring his feelings for his partner, Detective Kylie MacDonald, the woman who broke his heart when they first met in the academy.
But even with their top-notch training, Zach and Kylie aren't prepared for what they see when they're called to a crime scene in the heart of Central Park. They arrive to find a carousel spinning round and round, its painted horses grinning eerily in the early morning dark. There is only one rider: A brutally slaughtered woman, her body tied up and dressed in a Hazmat suit, on display for the world to see.
The victim, a woman of vast wealth and even greater connections, is the fourth in a string of shocking murders that have hit the city. As the public pressure mounts, and political and personal secrets of the highest order hang in the balance, Zach and Kylie must find out what's really behind the murderer's rampage. But Kylie has been acting strange recently - and Zach knows whatever she's hiding could threaten the biggest case of their careers.
NYPD Red 2 is the next outstanding novel in James Patterson's newest series, a thriller that careens through New York City and deep into the psyche of a depraved killer you've never seen before.

I would definitely recommend this book. It is somewhat of a short read but kept my attention.
I wasn't necessarily in the edge of my seat after I had figured out the ending before it happened. The only reason I didn't give it five stars. Not going to be a classic or anything like that. Just some good tension.
I definitely enjoyed the two performers.
That would be a spoiler.
I am not one to write anything but he did it again, amazing book amazing suspense and just an overall eye catcher can't wait to listen to the next book
Not any Patterson fans.
Since I have read most of his books I would give him (James Patterson) another chance but not by Marshall Karp as the co-author.
The narrator could not improve upon a bad story. It seemed to be all about who was sleeping with who rather than a crime story. It was like the crime theme was an afterthought.
It seemed like this book was not written by James Patterson but rather by the co-author, Marshall Karp. I will not get another book by Patterson that has a co-author.
This is the worse book from james I have listen too. It was read like a comprehension. It was just not the unsual james book.
It was running all over the place. It couldn't catch my attention for long
James what happened?
I generally read and enjoy anything Patterson has written. This one was not for me.
The voices did not seem to fit
Story line was ok
I am a 65-year-old psychologist, married for 25 years, with two sons who are 25 and 22. I love reviewing the books and the feedback I get.
First, if Edoardo Ballerini narrated the whole thing. Second, if the plot were not so cookie-cutter, with simplistic characters like brave cop Zach and stunningly beautiful and of course fabulously intelligent Kylie McDonald. Also, if Mr. Patterson would step aside (which he may already have done) and let a younger writer with new ideas do the heavy lifting.
Just about everything, as above. I think Mr. Patterson is on the downhill slide of his truly amazing career, and I am betting that he is a mighty fat cash cow for his publishers, agents, etc. who are thus pressuring him to push out a book a year. Is everybody happy? Uh, not me. Even as a "beach read," this book has little other than Mr. Ballerini to recommend it.
Mr. Ballerini only adds. He never subtracts. This, IMHO, is a dumb question.
Again, I love Mr. Ballerini narrating almost everything except the historical novels about Venice, and so forth. I am just not a history buff. But you give him a good story to read, and he magically transforms it into a great book.
There still could be good books coming out of this setup. The sexuakl energy between Zach and Kylie is enjoyable. New York is an endlessly fascinating city (no, really). Murder mysteries are fun to read, at least the good ones are. Keep trying, Mr. Patterson, Maybe you should work for two years on a book rather than one, in spite of the intense financial pressures on you. Be brave. You're already a gazillionaire.
Don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Trip's cool though. Use Audible to make gym-training sane... And rip my imagination.
GUSH! Uh-huh, I'm in the mood to gush over the fun that Edoardo Ballerina and Jay Snyder create in this series. Patterson's brand has had a steroid rush from the invention of NYPD RED.
Warning... warning... warning... There is a "2" in this title. You must read NYPD RED 1 first. Or else this book is one long spoiler alert that will asphyxiate your satisfaction in listening to the first in this series. I gushed over that book... So let me write that this is in every way as good. Better? Hmmmm....
Wuddaya want from a police procedural set in Metropolis? It is all here paced by Patterson and Karp to keep you in the driveway listening after a long commute. It's designed to make you earbud-anti-social for hours so that you can let the story anesthetize away life's tensions.
This is snarky entertainment... Start with NYPD RED 1, read this then, like me... go onto the waiting list for the next Zack Jordan, Kylie MacDonald adventure...
The only mystery now is whether Patterson and Karp can keep popping fifteen stars out of me with each new NYPD RED. Can't wait to find out.
I thought the storyline was pretty basic but entertaining. I like the development of where these characters are going.. I think the narration is done extremely well and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story lines continue to evolve
Makes you not want to stop listening good story good twist space. narrator's didn't keep saying "he daid" at the end of each sentence!
