Publisher's summary

Did a sweet-faced Amish teenager brutally murder a young woman? To save her career, big-city lawyer Jessica Langdon is determined to defend him against the community's bitter and even violent outrage. Yet without an understanding of Amish culture, Jessica must rely on arrogant businessman Trey Morgan, who has ties to the Amish community and believes in the boy's guilt.

Jessica has threats coming from all sides: a local fanatic, stirred up by the biased publicity of the case; the dead girl's boyfriend; even from the person she's learned to trust the most, Trey Morgan. But just when Jessica fears she's placed her trust in the wrong man, Trey saves her life. And now they must both reach into a dangerous past to protect everyone's future, including their own.

Murder in Plain Sight

The story line was interesting. Struggling assistant DA sent to Amish community to defend young man of accused murder. This is the first time reading about Amish being involved in a serious crime. The narrator had a good voice for listening which kept my interest. There was display of loyalty, forgiveness and trusting in God and others.

Enjoyable, suspenseful, exciting plot.

Well-written believable characters and scenes vividly described. I was thoroughly engrossed. The reader was excellent, both with becoming each of the characters and his talent in making it into a play instead of merely reading the text.

Engaging Mystery

With just the right amount of romance, Perry's Murder in Plain Sight is an enjoyable read. Well-executed--I highly recommend!

Very interesting

I loved Amish culture detail throughout the story. I had a hard time warming up to the main character but liked her towards the end.

Less than to be desired

Very predictable storyline. The narrator starts the story as a news reporter and for almost the rest of the book I feel she is still reporting news as she reads the book. It is hard to shake the news reporter voice. Several parts throughout you can hear her swallowing. Therefore it made it very hard to finish listening to the rest of the story.

Reasonably diverting

I like to listen to books while doing housework or on public transportation, and for those occasions, a diverting story line and reasonably good writing fit the bill. This book, one of the "Amish country murder mystery" genre, is fine. I found the reader to be distracting, however, because she has a tendency to over-dramatize which to me is annoying and just takes me out of the flow of the story as I ask myself, "WHY did she have to emphasize that word so heavily" or "isn't the voice she's giving to that man rather unnatural and weird?" I always feel that unless you have a real talent for projecting different voices and accents, it's best to just read the text in your own voice. I mean, when I read a book for myself, I don't put on different intonations or voices either...

Nice story, but not "steamy"

This was a good story. It was a murder story and accurate info about the Amish culture, however I purchased it as a "Romance" package choice and it was just a hint here and there of feelings between characters. Not enough for a steamy build up and no sex scenes. More of a murder mystery with two people attracted to each other. Good storyline and moved along well, okay narration, just not really in the genre category it is presented to be.
