Publisher's summary

The streets of Stoneham, New Hampsire, are lined with bookstores and paved with murder.

When she moved to Stoneham, city slicker Tricia Miles met nothing but friendly faces. And when she opened her mystery bookstore, she met friendly competition. But when she finds Doris Gleason dead in her own cookbook store, killed by a carving knife, the atmosphere seems more cutthroat than cordial. Someone wanted to get their hands on the rare cookbook that Doris had recently purchased-and the locals think that someone is Tricia. To clear her name, Tricia will have to take a page out of one of her own mysteries-and hunt down someone who isn't killing by the book.

Critic reviews

"Move over Cabot Cove. Lorna Barrett's new cozy creation, Murder Is Binding, has it all: wonderful old books, quirky characters, a clever mystery, and a cat named Miss Marple!" (Roberta Isleib, author of Preaching to the Corpse and the Advice Column Mysteries)

"A mystery bookstore in a sleepy New England town, a cat named Miss Marple, a nasty murder and a determined heroine make Barrett's delightful debut mystery everything a cozy lover could want and more. Bravo!" (Leann Sweeney, author of the Yellow Rose Mystery Series)

I love the Characters

When I first started listening I thought Trisha was a little bratty about her sister, but as it went on I enjoyed their dynamic. I also enjoy all of the other characters, even the mean ones. I can't wait to read the next book.

Pretty Good

This is a good start to a good series. There were times when I wished the story moved faster, but overall I enjoyed the story. I have already bought the next book.

Moves along pretty well. The main character is fairly realistic and likable. Cassandra Campbell is a wonderful narrator, as always.

Real good cozy

i have fallen in love with this genre. No extreme sex scenes, characters with depth & a mystery that is intriguing. This is my 1st time listening to this author. I enjoyed it very much.

Okay

I enjoyed the setting. I felt the dialog was mostly boring and characters just off. And I could do without the Cat! The Cat just screamed old target audience. I'm not old. Took forever to get the conclusion you figured out pretty quickly.

Perfectly constructed who-dun-it

The setting is charming, the characters are memorable, and the plot works. This is a lot of fun.
