I am reviewing this book because I found the previous reviews misleading. It was rated five stars. I was disappointed. It was average at best. I wish that I had chosen a different title.
No - I would not recommend it to friends. It was not that good. I might however recommend it to my 90 year old mother. She might enjoy it. The 60 year old characters of the story sounded a lot like the folks in her assisted living community most of whom are in their 80s and 90s. I am in my early sixties and so were the characters in this book - except they sounded older - much older than me - maybe mid to late 70s. It was disconcerting to read about people my age who seemed so much older. I think the narrator played a part as well in making the characters seem older than their "age". It may come as a surprise to mystery writers but most of us in our sixties don't aspire to be Miss Marple.
Yes - it inspired me to avoid mysteries in the future that are offered by Audible in the buy one get one promotion.
I love to read mysteries. I like women detective as I can follow and reason out how the events took place & why so I can solve the mystery.
The plot kept me interested in finding out what the sisters are doing.
Yes especially with the twists of a snake handling preacher.
Everybody has a right to worship in their own ways.
Why isn't this a tv series? Wonderful mysteries delightful dialogue. Authentic characters. Good humor. Anne George was a wonderful author.
All mysteries all the time, that's what I read. I joined Audible when I started having a long commute. Now I listen everywhere!
I love spending time with Mouse and Mary Alice, no matter what they're doing!
I sure wish someone would pick up where Anne George left off and give us some more adventures with these delightful Southern Sisters.
I'm almost finished listening to the series, I may have to listen to them over again when I need a little pick-me-up.
Ruth Ann Phimister is absolutely a delight, thank you SO much!
Very close to the top
The sisters personalities and relationship
She was excellent! She helped make the story even more enjoyable.
Everyone should read this series! I just wish audible would get the last book in the series!
I am taking a break from listening to the same mystery writer who seems to put out a book almost every month. His books usually puts me to sleep long before the timer on my e reader shuts off. This book was funny and very entertaining, I found myself resetting the timer and listening and giggling into the early hours. It was a very pleasant surprise, far from the grisley murders I have been reading. If you have a sister you will appreciate the comical relationship of the main charactors. Looking forward to the next book, hmmm I think I'll start it tonight, sleep is so overated.
