I love to read mysteries. I like women detective as I can follow and reason out how the events took place & why so I can solve the mystery.
The plot kept me interested in finding out what the sisters are doing.
Yes especially with the twists of a snake handling preacher.
Everybody has a right to worship in their own ways.
We loved the characters and enjoyed the banter between the two sisters. Having two of my own, I could definitely relate.
I loved the relaxed easy voice to Ruth Ann Phimister. She added to the tone of the piece.
My husband and I like to listen to books when we drive but it is hard to find books we both enjoy. This was easy and funny with a bit of intrigue. Light relaxing listening for those long road trips.
I am reviewing this book because I found the previous reviews misleading. It was rated five stars. I was disappointed. It was average at best. I wish that I had chosen a different title.
No - I would not recommend it to friends. It was not that good. I might however recommend it to my 90 year old mother. She might enjoy it. The 60 year old characters of the story sounded a lot like the folks in her assisted living community most of whom are in their 80s and 90s. I am in my early sixties and so were the characters in this book - except they sounded older - much older than me - maybe mid to late 70s. It was disconcerting to read about people my age who seemed so much older. I think the narrator played a part as well in making the characters seem older than their "age". It may come as a surprise to mystery writers but most of us in our sixties don't aspire to be Miss Marple.
Yes - it inspired me to avoid mysteries in the future that are offered by Audible in the buy one get one promotion.
Yes! This is my favorite Southern Sisters mystery! Love all of Anne George's books but Murder Carries a Torch is the best. All her mysteries have made me smile and want to listen over and over....
Kept me thinking....
She was Mouse! I could actually see from her performance all the people in the book.
Better than"Murder She Wrote"".......
Try the books, you'll love them!
