Publisher's summary

What would make the perfect man?

That's the deliciously racy topic that Jaine Bright and her three girlfriends are pondering one night at their favorite after-hours hot spot: Mr. Perfect. Would he be tall, dark, and handsome? Caring and warmhearted - or will just muscular do? As their conversation heats up, they concoct a tongue-in-cheek checklist that becomes an overnight sensation, spreading like wildfire at work and sizzling along email lines. But what began as a joke among friends turns deadly serious when one of the four women is murdered....

Turning to her neighbor, an unpredictable police detective, for help, Jaine must unmask a killer to save her friends - and herself. Now, knowing whom to trust and whom to love is a matter of survival - as the dream of Mr. Perfect becomes a chilling nightmare.

Beautiful!

I have read Linda Howard’s books narrated by Natalie Ross (one of my favorite narrators)and loved them. This is my first book by a different narrator and the style of the story was different. Loved it! There was humor, love, and a great mystery. All beautifully developed.

Ms. Howard has joined the ranks of my favorite authors. I will enjoy going through the rest of her books.

Unnecessary descriptive sexual content

This was a good story, but the sexual content was mundanely descriptive and totally unnecessary for the success of the book, it actually detracted. It would have been much better if the sex had been left more to the imagination.
Interesting mystery though.

Great Characters

Sam & Jaine’s story is A hoot almost from the first page - even with the dark understory. The characters are so relatable.

Mr CREEPY

Quite the story and twist, not to mention twisted. The premise of the deranged killer over a Mr Perfect list triggers an unstable sociopath. The descriptions of the characters and there personal lives sucked you in liking them only to kill them off was hard to read. especially when you rooting for their relationships to progress. TJs flailing marriage, Lunas getting a back bone knowing what she wants from a relationship, Jaines relationship failures only to find, fall in love with her sexy cop next door who she thought was a jerk and Marcies carefree view in life and men and Brick who actually cares for her. Linda Howard can mix giod funny humor, suspense, murder, greif and sexy times all in one. I would love to have the audio to be be redone adding a Male narrator, Laura is great for the female roles but her male voice could use work I think a male would make the audio that much better 🔥

Sex in the City does suburbia, then murder

My favorite Linda Howard book yet because of the balance between suspenseful murder mystery and rom-com. Laura Hicks is a new narrator for me, but she did a fantastic job separating the four ladies. The humor of the ladies’ Mr. Perfect list, as well as the ballsy personalities of Jane, Marci, and Sam made the first half of the book especially fun.

I do feel like the transition to the 2nd half of the book, where the comedy gives way to murder on the one hand, and romance on the other, sometimes felt clunky. It was as if there were two different books.

If this book sounds like your jam, then I also recommend Open Season. But, if you prefer Linda Howard sticking to the darker, thriller side of mystery, then I recommend After the Night or Shades of Twilight.

Another "Perfect" for Ms Howard

Nice story: cute skinny girl living next to the jerk that is a hunk but not really a jerk but actually the "perfect" guy. Romance, sex, suspense, murder, this book has it all. Even the Narrator was good which can make or break even a good book
