Editorial reviews

Editors Select, March 2014 - While not my go-to genre, every now and then I like to sit back and take in a good mystery/thriller. So, when I saw that Harlan Coben was coming out with a new stand-alone novel, I felt it was the perfect time to try out something new from an author I knew well by reputation (through countless rave reviews from Audible members) but never read or listened to personally. Missing Youwas exactly what I was hoping for: a cleverly conceived, suspenseful thrill-ride with cops and bad guys. There's a taken-from-the-headlines sense to the story where 40-year-old NYPD detective, Kat Donovan, discovers an old love and stumbles upon a possible gateway into a mysterious crime world through an online dating site her friend signs her up for. If you are looking for some smart entertainment and the kind of book you just can't put down, I can highly recommend Missing You. For anyone who is already a Coben fan, Missing You offers something new in a strong female protagonist, and a strong female narrator in January LaVoy to boot! Tricia, Audible Editor

nail-biting and a page turner

Found this to be well written and performed. The occasional cliches were acceptable. The converging story lines worked brilliantly

Tough to stick with

I had a lot of trouble getting into about the first one-third of this book. A whole lot going on & a lot of characters to keep track of. Gratefully, the narration was very good & the different characters voices were quite distinct & consistent.
After I finally got through the first one-third of the book it became very interesting to me & I couldn’t stop listening. The storyline was unique & had the perfect amount of action not to put it over the top and become far fetched.
I loved January LaVoy’s beautiful voice.
I do recommend this book to anyone who enjoys police procedural stories. This one has a live story added in (which I always like) & just the right amount of emotions (all of them).
I’m glad I chose this book from a Daily Deal. It’s pretty good. I listen to a minimum of two books per week. I always enjoy Harlan Coben stories.

Good to the last page!

Couldn’t put this down. I listened instead of watching movies on a long flight, every chapter building on suspense, evil characters and inocente victims. A story so possible it will raise the hairs on your back and make you question online dating! A must read.

Loved it!

I like to listen to audiobooks in my car while I'm working, but not when I'm home. This one was an exception! Great story, great plots and characters and excellent narration.

Harlan Coben rarely if ever disappoints

Yet another Harlan Coben page turner (or can’t stop listening) right to the red hot end. Love his twists and turns and character connections.

MAYBE 3.25 stars

The book stared off very good but about half way through it stared to drag so I found my mind wondering and having a hard time paying attention. I admit I did get a bit lost because of this, but I just couldn't be bothered to rewind and really listen. I wanted to ask Kat (the main character) if she had ever hear of stalking and was she aware of her unhealthy obsession. I felt like the book was aimed more towards younger, and perhaps female, who is naive enough to believe this story. As for me, nawww, I'd have moved on long ago if I were Kat, but I'm old and cynical.

Wait, what!?

I love Harlan Coben and have read many of his books and seen several adaptations on Netflix. The stories are all interesting and compelling and the twist is always unexpected. Sadly, the twist (or big reveal) comes literally in the last 2 minutes of the narration and the book ends. This was the main character's search for the entire book! I was really annoyed when there was no follow up because this was a BIG reveal.

Slow Start

Admittedly, I was a little bored at the beginning of the book but I suck with it and I am so glad that I did! The killer was a little predictable but I enjoyed the story nonetheless. The narration was great as usual with this narrator.
