"Uproarious...a rich, irresistible mix of snobbery, mayhem, sex, mind-boggling parochialism, and mildewed magnolias....A glorious vanity fair of human folly." (The Boston Globe)
I Thought I was buying the unabridged version. The Narrator is good, the story is great but you just miss too much in the abridged version, you don't really get the flavor of the story - just the facts. I would strongly suggest that you buy the unabridged version.
I've read this book more times than I care to admit. Occasionally I buy an audiobook of a book I've read just to hear it while driving, which is why I bought this. I was so disappointed over the editing of this recording....whole sections were taken out, such as the Lady Chablis crashing a debutant ball and the intro of Emma Kelly, the lady of 6,000 songs. If you want to get the full experience, buy the printed book!
