Book three in author Lisa Marie Rice’s Midnight series, Midnight Angel, is about a woman, Allegra Ennis, who loses her eyesight in a brutal attack by a person or persons unknown. Now surrounded by the blackest of nights that will last forever, she is haunted by nightmares of a monster whose face she can’t quite recall.
When Allegra meets a tough and hunky former Navy SEAL willing to help, the two work together to expel her demons. Oh yeah, the two also start passionate romance and their marathon erotic lovemaking sessions are described here…in detail.
Narrated in soft and silky tones by Alexandra R. Josephs.
Her nightmares don't stop when she opens her eyes…In one night, talented musician Allegra Ennis lost her sight, her father and her career in a brutal attack she can't remember. Now she's alone in a world of darkness, her only company the nightmares in her head…and a killer is stalking her every move. Scarred and disfigured by war, tough former SEAL Douglas Kowalski never thought a beauty like Allegra could love someone like him. He doesn't expect more than a one-night stand. But when Allegra's life is threatened, Kowalski realizes he will do anything to keep her safe - and by his side.

Devotee of multi-tasking, keen gardener and cross-stitcher. Now able to do both AND listen to stories at the same time. Bliss.
Midnight Angel is the third in the 'Midnight' Trilogy, (Midnight Man, Midnight Run, Midnight Angel). This was my favourite of the three and follows Allegra Ennis and Douglas Kowalski who are both introduced in Midnight Run. Events during all three books overlap and while reading all three in order will give you a better feel for the story overall, it isn't strictly necessary. I adore the way Lisa Marie Rice writes her male leads as super tough alpha males. However, beware! It is possible to overdose on her books to the point where the plots basically are the same (tough Alpha male meets tiny beautiful female who is in some sort of dangerous situation which he then solves using his vast experience from his previous military career). They are, however, books I'm happy to read/listen to more than once provided I allow a decent gap between repeats! Alexandra R Josephs is a brilliant narrator. Her husky male voice is perfect for the male leads in this series and I'd happily listen to her again. Thoroughly recommended!
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
Once again Lisa Marie has got me Hooked on Mr Spunky Alpha male, in this book "Douglas" - Wow Mr yummy. As with Lisa Marie's books the sex scenes were steamy and numerous, nicely detailed and intense, but they weren't gratuitous at all. Rice used them to develop Douglas and Allegra's relationship and managed to infuse them with so much emotion that my stomach was clenching every couple of pages and I kept getting a lump in my throat - and I listened to every single page of those dreamy scenes... What made the difference was that I cared for these characters and felt I knew them. They weren't just anonymous bodies writhing around.
I adored Douglas. It was probably because he was one lost little puppy for an alpha, so used to being rejected and stared at in horror. It's sick of me, I know, but I just loved how incredulous he was that Allegra wanted him, how he was ready to do anything to keep her with him. And I probably liked him because his alpha tendencies manifested, not in bullying and dominating Allegra, but in protecting her and wanting to make her happy. If you have listened and love the Midnight Series like me, you Must get this book. It was awesome......
I like the interaction between the characters. its was nice to see a disability respectfully portrayed
the first love scene
Just trying to find my next great read
Narrator Alexandra R. Josephs. The narration I give 2.5 Stars. I could think of two narrators who would have done a better job.
Heroine is blind due to an accident caused by her music manager.
This one started out so good, but I noticed myself struggling towards the end.
The narrator did an okay job. She read too slow and it sounded as if she had to concentrate how how she was going to say every word.
I regret using a credit on this one. I should have waited for a sale.
No real story ... just kept repeating over and over ... nothing but sex and the F word. I'm not against sex and the F word but there is a limit to how many times I want to hear it in an hour! I kept hoping that it would move on to a real story but I finally gave up.
she talked so slow and kept pausing
all but the beginning. the beginning was good and I kept hoping that something would happen. But she spent way to long on sex scenes with no plot and kept repeating everything, does she think we're stupid or was she trying to get enough length to make it a book, also way to many F words.
I enjoyed the first 2 Midnight stories because they had a story line and adventure, that was the only reason I kept listening to this one because I was hoping that there was going to be a story but I finally gave up after 4-5 hours.
This is my first foray into the world of audio books and I have to say that once you get use to the narrator telling you the story it feels rather decadent. I didn't have to do any of the hard work of concentrating on the words, I just had to listen.
It did take getting use to the narrator's slower speech and changing her voice to be more like the character. I normally read faster than the story unfolded, but once I got past that I did find it very enjoyable to be read to. Especially such an erotic story as this one.
I'm no stranger to novels from Ellora's Cave and Lisa Marie Rice did not disappoint. The story was romantically erotic and the main characters engaged in some very hot and erotic sex but only after the tension, passion and anticipation was built up. It was genuine and really gave me the impression they really wanted each other.
The back stories gave a real sadness to Allegra and Douglas and I could understand the emotion that affected the characters as they worked through their issues with each other.
This was my first listen to Alexandra.
Since I listened to the first two books in this series I decided to try finishing it(the series). Lot's of describing the past which was already known. Think it could move a little faster for me. Overall would rate a 4. Just remember reviews are subjective so you might love the book.
As a psychiatrist addiction is important to me. I am addicted to audible books, kindle books, my husband, and my thirteen cats.
This book is the last of three in the series. All of the books are good but this one is special. The male lead is not the typical romance figure. He is ugly and scarred. The girl is beautiful and talented and yeah she is blind so she can only love him for who he is. The nice parts of the book are the lovers themselves.. The strength and silent will from a man who has no family and no where to go. Very well written emotions and the sex is interesting if nothing else. This book is for someone who wants a sweet romance, little hot sex and a happy ever after on a cool winters day. so snuggle down and enjoy.
Douglas' history and response to his new love.
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
I loved the other two books in the series so I had high hopes for book 3 and it started off so well but regrettably I found this one a bit repetitive and not very exciting.
Douglas is a very Alpha ex Seal but he's scarred and is called ugly but when he hears the voice of an Angel he has to investigate where it's coming from. Allegra is a beautiful, talented Harpist but she's blind so when she meets Douglas she has none of the discriminations towards him that other people have and judges him on his actions rather than looks.
Yes, there was lots and lots of sex - they meet just prior to an attempted armed jewel theft at a Gala their attending and Douglas decides to look after Allegra as things start going down. From then on he takes her under his wing, protects her, drives her home, stays, has lot of sex, cooks for her, looks after her like a priceless doll, bathes her, dresses her and supports her when she has nightmares and flashbacks. Which I found a bit unnecessary as Suzzane, her Interior Designer friend, had redone her home with her blindness in mind and Allegra has been living there for 4 months quite happily. There were a few touching moments like when he taught her the code to locate things (which came in very handy later on) and when he took her out for a walk.
A bit of suspense as her ex Manager/attacker tried to eliminate her through a third party but that just fizzled out to a few paragraphs at the end. The ending seemed very rushed and all was wrapped up in the Epilogue.
Worth a credit? I guess if you've listened to the other 2 books in the series then yes but my mind started wandering during this one and I even contemplated stopping it and moving on to something else. Please don't shoot the messenger - cause maybe I'm just having an 'off' day but I just didn't feel the romance I'm afraid so sorry but it's a No from me.
"Blind to love"
A lady is attacked, leaving her blind. On her first outing since the accident she is involved in a robbery, not so lucky eh?! On the bright side, a big hunka chunka is there to save her and they gradually fall in love.
