Brian Roy is the brainchild behind the Leonidas Group, a ghostbusting organization with a track record of incomparable success for tracking down and annihilating ghosts. This time, however, Brian may have met his match with his latest job investigating Middlebury Sanitarium!
Occupied by a host of undeads, Middlebury Sanitarium has a history of drugging its residents to prevent them from entering the grounds at night and becoming a part of the "lost brigade", never to be heard from again. From a vengeful King who ruthlessly protects his royal domain to Clyde, a faceless soldier who's still fighting WWI, Brian's got his hands full! And then there's the boneyard.
Now, Brian teams up with an old vet caretaker, Ken Buckingham, to de-ghost the place. But the shrewd, kindly old man has a few secrets up his own sleeve that even Brian could have never anticipated.

If you love ghost stories, then Yes, recommended. It had both originality and the same ol' mixed together. It is just is not my style plus it can be hard to get scared with all the humor flying around. Without sound effects I had a had time compartmentalizing the 2 elements. I like the writing though and I do see why the series is popular. Andrew Tell is very good and I reviewed this book since it was provided to me as a gift from someone related to the book
The narration was good, easy to follow through the unexpected and creepy twists and turns.

This book was great. I don't like anything around hospitals or sanitariums but I wanted to stick with the series glad I did. This has some nasty ghosts. And the night watchman is a great character.
Twists, Suspense, Exciting.
I really don't have any of comparison, but I certainly will follow this series.
I have listened to other of Andrew Tell's. He's awesome at them all. I can't compare.
I was absolutely stunned at the story line, the flow was great. There was no confusion. I truly love the twists and discoveries along the way.

Ron Ripley is superb with his writing of this series. He increases the creepy factor with this book and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout its' entirety. The author is a master at writing this genre. He is very detailed and descriptive, making the story come to life for you. As always, the author creates great characters with an excellent storyline that are extremely well written and developed.
Again, what can I say about Andrew Tells' performance that I have not already been said other than perfection. He has excellent tone as well as pace and provides the perfect voice inflection at the appropriate time that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and your spine tingle. Excellent as always!!

Having loved both book 1 & 2, I couldn't wait to dive into this and see what else could possibly happen Brian and the Leonidas Group. Well this edition sees Brian being called to investigate Middlebury Sanitarium, and you just know, even before reading the book, that with Sanitarium in the name, there will be ghosts!! Brian definitely has his hands over full with this one!
One thing I've found with this series is that the settings seem to be getting creepier and creepier. I have always thought that, for a ghost story anyway, an abandoned mansion, or hospital or Sanitarium are always a good place to set it. They just give of an incredibly scary vibe! Middlebury Sanitarium was such a scary place, and the authors descriptive writing just gave me chills thinking of it. You could just imagine the pain and suffering that took place there!! Definitely not a book to read in the dark ;) Saying that, I may love scary stories but I'm a wimp and only read them during the day!!!
Again, the author creates unique and interesting characters. I loved the introduction of Ken!! His back story was awesome and his character really shined. Then we have the dead! All of them were as freaky as hell and scary as ever!! The King!!!! I got goose bumps while reading about him. But as I've come to expect with this author. Some of the awesome characters die. Damn you Ron Ripley!!!! ;) Though with so many ghosts wafting around the place, maybe they might make a return!!! Lol.
Anyway, this book, and indeed the series, was amazing. They may be relatively short books, but there is so much happening that they don't feel short. They are chock full of suspense, thrills, chills and will grab you from the first page. I so want these to be a mini series on TV!
I've listened to a good few books narrated by Andrew Tell and not one of them has been anything but perfect. He is effortless to listen to and really knows how to bring the listener into the story. He knew how to bring across the creepiness of the place and characters and was a big reason why I loved the series so much!!
