Corby Mackentile is a 15-year-old girl who attends a private school. She has been bullied because of her weight since she was 12, especially by the most popular girls. Her parents - her mother is a TV anchor and her father is a Buddhist who owns a butcher shop - are too busy with their own problems to pay attention to their only daughter. Corby has a crush on one of the most popular boys in school. He makes fun of her once, but then unexpectedly apologizes. From that moment, her situation with three of the popular girls becomes worse. Then, one day, one of the girls who had bullied Corby comes to the butcher shop where Corby works for her father after school. Again, the girl teases Corby about her weight, but this time everything is different.

It is definitely a psychological thriller! I liked the storyline, but I had some issues with the grammar and word usage. The narration was rather flat, but the suspense kept me listening!!
The book does suffer from some inconsistencies with time. Some of the dialogue isn't very accurate to how a modern teenager would talk and the main character is also extremely naive for her age. That could be overlooked though since the story itself is pretty interesting and the twists at the end are gripping. And I suppose it could be possible for a 15 year old girl in this time to be a bit naive, considering her personality. The thing that just ruins the book is the narration. She's very stilted and some of the inflections she uses and pauses (or lack thereof) in reading just doesn't make any sense. Then she tends to abruptly end a sentence in a way that doesn't seem like the sentence had actually ended. This usually occurs at the end of a chapter. The sound quality was just awful as well, there was a lot of background static. I would say read the book instead of listen to it, unless they get a different narrator to re-record it.
