Nine episodes of the BBC Radio 4 detective series set in Victorian Edinburgh, starring Brian Cox as Inspector McLevy.
In this collection all eight episodes of series 11 and 12 are joined by 'Meet James McLevy', a remake of the original pilot episode. Inspired by the real-life memoirs of one of Scotland's first policemen, the fictional James McLevy prowls the dark streets of 1860s Edinburgh bringing criminals to justice, with the assistance of Constable Mulholland.

I've listened to every story in every series several times, and came to this last set with immense sadness. I might have envisioned a different denouement, but in keeping with the darker nature of the stories, the conclusion satisfies. I hope others discover this treasury of incredible radio drama.
"Terrific ensemble! Brian Cox et al are wonderful!!"
Mclevy's interaction with just about anyone but especially with Jean Brash.
Their dialogue and spats are flawless. Their relationship is so well developed.
His own tag lines about I am JM and Leith is my parish etc.
I've really enjoyed this series, can't get enough of it. All the characters are developed over the series.. The accents stand out best. The earlier story lines are the richest. Can really recommend these.
What a wonderful world to lose yourself in ,David Ashton please write more. I want to know what adventure lies in store for McLevy, Mulholland and Jean Brash. thank you for such great stories, genius.x
"A real gem."
I have now listened to all the radio productions of Mclevy and it's a shame that the BBC haven't commissioned another series. A great cast which delivers superb performances from the excellent writings of David Ashton.
I have very much enjoyed all the series of McLevy on radio and was delighted to see that most are available to buy on Audible. Well-written, excellent characterisations, beautifully performed. Highly recommended.
