I am a die hard Patterson/Cross follower and this is up there with my favorites. I really couldn't pick a definite favorite, as I truly enjoy them all. This one, though, was one that kept me totally involved, not wanting to turn it off. I have since downloaded another one and will continue. I am not sure who I enjoy more, the writing of Patterson or the actions of Cross - same/same.
I was a pretty big fan of Patterson's previous Cross novels but this one was pretty bad. I'd agree with the other reviews; kind of dull, all over the place, more about little Alex (if you are familiar with the other books) then the murder. And Cross doesn't really do any real investigative work. . . nothing. I suppose if you've read all the other ones you will have to read this one too but be warned. Pretty disappointing.
