Narrator was awful, story okay

I’ve read the previous books in the series so this was my first time with one of Leslie’s audiobooks. The narrator was terrible. Very breathy at the end of every word, Emphasizing the consonants. No conversational style. She had limited ability to voice different female characters. Her male characters were worse.

Very entertaining cozy mystery and performance

This book is full of mystery, murder, spies, cats, kids, fun, and some romance. It is packed full. The performance is very good. This is very entertaining!

Love this series!

This is escapism at its best! Former CIA agent (female) is now a girl scout leader in her hometown but trouble and bad guys seem to find her even in a small town in the middle of nowhere. This time, however, she takes the girls to Washington DC and lots of mayhem ensues!

Speed up

The narrative was irritating for me as well. I discovered adjusting the speed from 1. to 1.2 improved it considerably.

Hilarious fun!

Take a group of Girl Scouts on a trip to Washington DC, add a King Vulture with a Girl Scout cookie addiction and throw in some CIA espionage, then just sit back and laugh at the crazy antics.
Leslie Langtree is one of my top favorites, give me anything she writes, it’s all good fun!

Very confusing at times

The author keeps going back in time. Sometimes in dreams, sometimes memories. It was hard to follow at times

The past comes to haunt Merry

Merry Wrath‘s girl scout troop has won a trip to Washington, D.C. for having sold the most cookies ever in the history of the Girl Scouts in Marshmallow S’more Murder, the third Merry Wrath book by Leslie Langtry. With Merry’s CIA background and her Senator father’s influence, these scouts get a trip unlike any before them. While visiting the First Lady, Merry gets a quick phone call from her former partner and handler, Riley, begging for help before hanging up. And this leads Merry to some dramatic events in D.C., which includes taking the dozen girl scouts to Langley, the headquarters of the CIA, where they meet up with Merry’s good friend Maria, who helps out Merry and her scouts.

This book takes a lot of wild turns, including getting stalked by Mr. Fancypants, the king vulture nicknamed that by the girls and who has escaped from the zoo. In taking a trip to the Japanese embassy with her father, Merry meets up with a woman she discovers to be the daughter of Midori Ito, the Japanese head of a crime syndicate whom Merry found dead in her kitchen in Merit Badge Murder. Even more sadistic than her mother, “Baby Ito” is certain that Merry and Riley killed her mother. This leads Merry in a crazy trip into the past that she must resolve before she can get her life back.

This series is a real delight to read, whether in print or on audio, and this book does not disappoint. I laughed out loud at certain parts, especially those involving Mr. Fancypants. The plot really held my interest, to the extent that I didn’t actually get any sleep last night because I couldn’t turn the book off! The girl scouts are starting to develop real characters instead of just being a dozen nondescript girls. I also really enjoyed getting to know Maria, whom we met briefly in the previous book.

Bailey Carr continues in doing an excellent job of narrating this series. She really exudes the personality of Merry and gives good voices for each character, making the children in the Girl Scouts sound realistic. I really enjoyed the listening experience of this book.

I highly recommend Marshmallow S’more Murder as a book that is so much fun, with a fascinating mystery filled with adventure in it. The series seems to grow in its quality as it goes, and I can’t wait to get to listen to book four! I give this book five stars!

The Scouts Go To Washington

After selling the most cookies, Merry takes the trip to Washington. Then Riley calls and asks for help. The Yakuza are after them. Wild antics in the Nation’s Capital. Great narration.

Fun read

Fun, delightful, read. Merry is always in some adventure with her merry band of Girl Scouts not far behind her!

Exciting Book 3 in Merry Wrath series

Marshmallow S’More Murder is the 3rd exciting book in the Merry Wrath Mysteries. I couldn’t put it down! There is a lot of action, humor, friendship, and some boyfriend situations. Merry and her Girl Scout Troop won a trip to Washington DC. Merry’s best friend Kelly is due to have a baby so she can’t go. Merry’s boyfriend Detective Rex is watching her cats. Merry is former CIA but retired. Merry asks her CIA friend Maria to help out. Merry’s handler at the CIA Riley is missing and calls to ask for help. Merry and Maria spend 2/3 of the book looking for Riley, protecting the girls, and avoiding Mr Fancy Pants. What a story! I bought both the ebook and audiobook. The audiobook is well done considering how many voices were required. I preferred the audiobook. Very enjoyable! #MarshmallowS’MoreMurder. #MerryWrathMysteries
