Publisher's summary

Bonnie and Clyde, they thought. And what's-his-name, the sidekick. Three teenagers with dead-end lives, and chips on their shoulders, and guns.

The first person they killed was a highway patrolman. The second was a woman during a robbery. Then, hell, why not keep on going? As their crime spree cuts a swath through rural Minnesota, some of it captured on the killers' cell phones and sent to a local television station, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigator Virgil Flowers joins the growing army of cops trying to run them down. But even he doesn't realize what's about to happen next.

Virgil is wonderful!

He is is my favorite Sandford character and Eric Conger is the perfect voice for him. I loved every moment and was sad when the story was over.

Good read but all. Minnesotans’ notice the mispronunciations.

Love all the Flowers book & enjoy the narrator. However, if Virgil is supposed to BE from MN, then the towns & lakes should be pronounced like the people living there pronounce them.
I know nothing will be done about these errors but at least I got it off my chest.

Another enjoyable Virgil Story

I like this character and always enjoys Sandford's writing. It's nothing phenomenal but never lets me down either. Recommended.

Love The Combo! Sanford & Conger

Would you consider the audio edition of Mad River to be better than the print version?

Conger, really is the perfect {next to Guidal that is} narrator for Sanfords stories. I have listened to most of them

Any additional comments?

John Sanfords Prey series is one ,if not the Best listening experience one could TREAT themselves to. Just Masterful!

Disappointing, plodding, ok reader

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story was not compelling nor compellingly told. It plodded along and then carried on an hour after it should have ended. And where is Richard Ferrone? He makes Sandford books come alive. A large disappointment for a fan of Lucas Davenport novels.

Terrible ending

Pretty boring book. Dead ending with no closure. Some good parts but for the most part it was dull.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Eric Conger?

Good narrator. Compels the listen

Could you see Mad River being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Don't ruin it by making it a tv series

Bonnie & Clyde Redo

The fist few books in the series the narrator sucked. In this book the narrator appears to be at least making an effort on character development through voice inflection. This is not to say he has mastered narrating the written word by any stretch of the imagination. But he is improving. The book itself lacked any real originality. Sandford simply takes Bonnie & Clyde and plugs in a modern spin. Over-vilifying the villains is a problem in this story - especially where there is no deep character development for the victims of the villains. This book was a weak effort on the part of Sandford. If it were the first book in the series, I wouldn’t have read any more books in the series.
